The case that the weapons look like the awesome weapons in previous final fantasies will please those looking for more final fantasy in this game.

Damnit! Still 6 days till the patch! You're torturing us with videos!!! XD
though I won't be upset by this because I stated it before, but it is worrying me if it is the case... that L30 will be Easy mode and L50 will be hard mode... I think it should be just one set level and you have an option of tackling the easy mode or hard mode... because to L50 i think the L30 Ifrit though tricky will most likely still be a cakewalk... like totorak...

Toto-Rak is hardly a cake walk if you're running it at the appropriate level.

And yes as someone who values the lore, the past few patches have been making my stomach churl. How is Materia going to tie into the game world? Are they gonna retcon everything so that materia is seen as an important offshoot of Aetheryte or is it just going to be there?

they have the whole backstory on Lodestone... where a goblin discovered the art and is introducing it to the races of Eorzea.

Yes on the Lodestone, which isn't in-game.

It's not that there's a problem with any of this content(I think it's all great) as much as it's a problem with the inconsistent story-telling. All of a sudden, a massively huge game-changing system(materia and jobs) are introduced out of nowhere through some random character or group of characters who "brought the secrets of a forbidden art back to Eorzea"? There's only so many times you can rely on that plot device before it becomes non-nonsensical and dumb(that number is zero times btw), and I can't really see how they're going to introduce something huge like jobs without taking a chainsaw to the already established lore. I'll be the first to admit that I don't play Final Fantasy games strictly for the story as I love intricate game systems, but a dyslexic story in any medium should be jarring as hell to anybody.

Oh and to add on to my glowing comment's at least they are centralized on specific parts not an over arching red/orange glow... which I would absolutely hate, I also like that the "Ifrit Soul" as I am going to call it is dormant when in passive mode and bright and alive when in active mode. It shows to me as if you the player is calling on his strength upon pulling out your weapon to defend and strengthen you. If there is armor that drops with the same property's I hope the glow is also only active in active mode and just looks normal in passive. Like synergy with Ifrit calling on his power to strengthen you in the fight to come!

From the looks of it they are trying to use cheap tricks to appeal to the audience. They seem to think their previous endeavours couldn't pull it off by having consistent, classy and somewhat realistic art direction so now we get attempts to look "cooler" by making humongous weapons that shoot lasers, fights that are inconsistent with the lore and systems that make fun of the lore (because they have been implemented from a "gameplay first, lore second" standpoint)- like, say, "building a stronger emotional attachment to your armor in which case it can be converted into MATERIA" (MATERIA like in FINAL FANTASY SEVEN, ye hear me?!). What the hell is this crap? Like, you start loving your pants sooo much that by the power of Gray Skull you can magically turn them into a gem? But did I already mentioned MATERIA?

It's easy to realize which part of the system was an afterthought. I feel sorry for the lore-masters.

    There's some feedback Foxclon!

Why feel sorry for them now? Yoshida shoehorning classic Final Fantasy jobs is already going to do a number to the lore, you should be more concern about that than a few special weapons. With that said, I'm just glad they are unique models.

I've felt sorry for them for some time now. I'll keep feeling sorry for them as the current lore is butchered for the cause of EPIX.

    Please just go away already.

It seems a lot of people in my LS don't even visit the lodestone. I am usually the one keeping them up to date with whats coming. Maybe I should blackout and just play too [=
