Stuck with quests that are higher level than your character

I'd post this in the quest section but I apparently can't post there yet.

My conjurer is level 22. I finished a level 26 quest but can't hand it in because my level isn't high enough (figured out I could switch to a higher-level class and hand it in). What I don't understand is why I can interact with an NPC and accept a higher-level quest but can't actually hand it in if I don't have a class that's high enough for the quest's level. Was I able to accept it because I had a higher-level class even though that wasn't a combat class?

I'm guessing if I had abandoned the quest I'd to have to do it over? Does anyone know why we can accept but not hand in quests that are higher level than our class/job? I'm guessing it's to prevent power leveling, but it would be nice to at least temporarily hide quests we can't yet turn in even though they're done and not have them take up a spot in our journals.

I've wondered this myself. I recently accepted a side quest on an alt and when I double checked it in my journal it is actually a few levels higher than my highest level class with that character. I get that the quest is just to unlock a side dungeon but still found it weird that it was even offered to that character yet. Some quests are definitely locked from being able to be accepted until you are the same level.

On a side note, if you've unlocked levequests with a higher class you can still do them with a lower leveled class and turn them in upon completion. Maybe that has something to do with the quests in question.

Thanks for your comments. The quest I did was a side quest called "An Apple a Day" in Quarrymill. It's possible I accepted it on a gathering class as I don't remember when I accepted it or what class I was on, but I suspect it would have been impossible to kill the things that came out of the ground if I was using my fishing pole as a weapon.

This is a pretty confusing and inconsistent feature. Some (I'm pretty sure it's most) quests require you to be the appropriate level before you can even accept them. Others let you accept them and complete their objectives up until the final turning it in step and only then block you until you reach the right level. Personally, I think they should all work like the former group and only let you accept them if they're also going to let you complete them.
