Oh the Gm's have been very interested in what parsers are being used I bet they are trying to find a way to counter.

I got kicked from a group in A1, because somebody was running a parser. They said I had really bad DPS, and they didn't want me in group because of it. I am a SMN. The situation in the fight was, the healers did not heal me through homing missiles, Casters cant take the missiles to the face without at least 1 cure. So they let me die 4 times. Then Judged me by their parse on the fight. They didn't care the situation or want to hear explanation, just only what their little box showed them. Well, reported. Later that night, same fight, parsed 989 in a different group.I think people abuse parsers and they are bad. If you don't meet the DPS check it is apparent, cause you wont pass certain points or things. If you are close people work that much harder. If you aren't, people will regroup, and try to get better gear. I am on Gilgamesh and the Parser crowd is terrible.
People play to have fun. Feeling pressured and feeling like you cant make 1 mistake isn't fun. Doesn't even have to be your mistake, somebody else makes a mistake that effects you, and your numbers, all they see is your numbers, and you get harassed. Should not allow them.
I would think things like this are reportable offences. Calling people out for low dps in alex normal mode is just sad anyway. The whole reason for the normal/easier raid content was to allow more casual players to take part in it. There aren't super tight dps checks, people don't need to be performing at 90-100% of their class potential to clear it. It's meant to be FUN, and something everyone can enjoy.

So I feel that people using parsers should be allowed to use them provided certain conditions are met. They shouldn't be allowed to harass another player because of what the parser is reporting because the parser (as of yet) don't track deaths. For example, Say I'm fighting a boss as a Black Mage, I end up dying about 1/4th of the way through the fight and don't get raised until the fight is over. The parser just sees that you weren't doing damage and can't tell that you're actually dead thus that's why you're not dealing damage. If Square implements an Add-on system soon, I'd be willing to learn how to code in that language (they'd probably use TCL or Lua, of which i know a bit more TCL than Lua) just to implement that death time functionality.

Continuation of my last post due to SE's stupid 1k character limit (GRRRRR): Basically once a person dies in the party, I'd have my addon simply freeze report parsing for display. I'd also code in a "dead timer" so that when a Player gets moused over in the in-game addon window, it shows that they were dead for however long they were. There is one problem with my ideas in that which is then the people complaining about DPS being "bad" would complain about a person being dead.

well also shows who is doing the mechanic and who isn't

I can't guarantee that if SE implements an addon system that I'll be able to code that advanced anytime soon. I suppose I could technically have it see when players take damage as well and what caused the damage to occur. Like for example: Titan. Say a DPS gets hit by that move that knocks you off the platform (the straight-line attack that is "random" target-based). If SE properly implements an Addon system, I should be able to read that and then display it. I've also considered a kind of solution that would help alleviate the mechanics problem. Although this idea might lead to harassment claims, I'll post it anyways. My damage meter utility would post something like a quest notice above the enemy's health bar saying someone like, "<player> has died. The Killing blow was from <Monster> for x damage. Although the Titan fight would require a bit more complexity than that.

True but the these people only represent a small part of the community the part that THINK they are good, but in reality they aren't, It's the players who don't care about Parsing are usually the better players.

that's actually a good idea, It would stop players from harassing others because of low DPS and also take into account being raised as well. if that is possible.

Guys if someone harrass you when you go in pug with a parser you can report him, but parser are useful tool for raiders or even for check our DPS, gear stat and so much more, banning for this kind of use is just stupid in my opinion.
If someone think that "That SMN doesn't do enough DPS" because he is using a parser, he can just leave, bet he canno't vote dismiss the SMN of harrass him for it.
Smart people will also give to that SMN some tips, even because with al the changes made to jobs it is possible to crap something and don't realize it with a decent numeric comparation.
