FFXIV Not Booting When Connected to Thunderbolt Display

I use a Macbook Pro retina with bootcamp, Windows 8 64bit and I've been having the "FFXIV has stopped working" error for some time now. The game would crash every time I pressed the green Play button on the launcher.

After a lot of fiddling around, I realized that FFXIV was not working whenever I had my laptop connected to my Thunderbolt Display. The game works fine on the Macbook Pro by itself, but for some reason just stops working all together anytime the display is connected. I'm really scratching my head on this one. Has anyone had this issue before? Any solutions?

Wow super weird...So I just got it working, but had to run another game at the same time in order for it to launch. What's the cause of this?

My guess is in how it's functioning with the multiple monitors. Usually it'll load on the monitor you have selected (the Mac top bar will be highlighted instead of greyed out) but this also gets more complicated if you're running in Fullscreen for example. If you're loading the game in Windowed it might be a different reaction, but it won't like when you drag the game from one Desktop to the other too much but its worth a try. Generally it'll be locked to the resolution of the desktop it was launched from (if that makes sense).
