Sound device options/settings.

Is there a way to get more sound options, maybe to set up stereo/surround/mono, which device is being used for output etc?

The reason I'm asking is my friend is having sound issues. She hears some sound and it seems based on her camera position, can only hear when the camera is pointed in front of her character. We've tried the positional audio settings, maxed then minimized then to see if either worked.
