I wasn't talking about resources. I was talking about the flavor of the job, which should have been obvious if you had actually read all of my post. Plus it cross-classes with freakin' conjurer of all things, which I refuse to level on my character.

Actually, I was trying to help you. Your gladiator is only level 22, so I figured since you hadn't unlocked the job you might not know how it works.
I did read your post though. The only indicated flavor I could extract from it was bitter. Maybe you should be more specific next time? Because, mechanically speaking, only a dark knight really uses MP. Further, I don't get how... SAM? Samurai, I take it, would satisfy this existential urge in a tanking job you desire. I personally enjoy warrior's aesthetic a lot, and don't see what kind you're looking for, since you did a poor job explaining it.
Try replacing your sass with facts. It helps convey your point much better.
I feel this is kind of a pointless conversation, because there are no facts for me to convey, only feelings and emotions.Actually, I was trying to help you. Your gladiator is only level 22, so I figured since you hadn't unlocked the job you might not know how it works.

But okay. The current crop of tanks all bore me to death. How can I explain to you why they bore me to death? Best I can do is say that I want something that's slick and stylish. Something that feels cool instead of just bland (Paladin), typical (Warrior), or edgy (Dark Knight).
Something that tanks with finesse and actual skill and technique instead of magic or brute force. I feel like Samurai is the closest thing to something that would satisfy those demands. Just a hunch, mind you, as I don't know how Yoshida's team would realize it in-game (it could just end up being another DPS given his feelings on the matter). In that case I'll be stuck with WAR because I'm not leveling any magic jobs on principle. I'll hit 60 on it and then never touch it again unless I'm in a rush to finish my roulettes quickly, which means I end up contributing to the tank shortage.
I know a bunch of folks claim that most people just aren't willing to take up the tank role itself, but I am not one of those people. I am perfectly fine tanking. I just don't like the current crop of available tank jobs.

That makes a lot more sense, thank you. I don't think there's a lot of market for a finesse tank, without ending up with some sort of evade tank line NIN was in FFXI, and I get the feeling SE wants to avoid that ever happening again because if you have an evade tank, you really don't need to heal them- what with them not taking damage in the first place.
Still! I do hope that eventually a job of that type comes out that suits your desires. It's possible, true, and Samaurai could probably do it. I imagine there'd be a lot of emphasis on parries.
