If you aren't wiping, and your only complaint is that things are too hectic, then seriously, get over it. Any encounter you live through is a success.
As others have said, the guides are often more complicated than the fight. Also, not everyone can just figure out a fight from reading a narrative, or watching a video. In addition, I pay my money same as anyone else; I want to play the game. I don't want to do research before I go into a dungeon and I don't want it to be stressful. For me this is a game, and any encounter that I ENJOY is a success.

Regardless, I would like your opinion on how I should proceed, as you seem to be one of the people who would not take kindly to my request to slow down.
In a random that I am healing, if I am unable to keep a tank/party alive and they are upset, how would you recommend that I approach the subject of pulling less?

I say flat out that I am new and I would like to map the dungeon (if needed). I've not had a problem at all with it. When I see people with the plant leaf, I ask if anyone needs maps or haven't run the dungeon before fully.

I've only once had a group that speed ran through a dungeon. But you know what? As DPS I just do my thing, and let the others worry about their jobs.

Speak up. If it's bothering you, then leave. There are other groups out there. It sucks, trust me, and a shame there is no Duty Finder option for Speed Run Only.

ROFL this is funny. You expect a new person to the game to look up Sastasha or Tam Tara? It takes what ... two minutes to say "Hey, don't kill so and so, but make sure you DPS the so and so"? Wow .... so entitled sounding that everyone else be up to your standards.

I've been in Tam Tara no less than 20 times in Roulette and own choice, and I love doing it over and over. Not everyone has your OMG HURRY UP NAOW mentality.

As far as speedrunning is concerned ...

I dont really like the selfish attitudes some people in this thread are showing. If a tank is uncomfortable speedrunning, dont try to force it upon him and dont go insulting him because it "slows you down." You come off as a real ass if you do that

If a tank pulls too much and there is no keeping the alive, just be like, "Sorry, but that was too much, can we pull a bit less?" (I like to use 'we' over 'you' because saying 'can you pull less?' could make it sound like your trying to start a fight if they read it wrong, which can happen because text doesn't have any voice tone to it and can easy be misinterpreted) If they continue to pull the same with the same results, just leave, because honestly, there isn't much you can do if you've already been nice about it or you feel like your talking to a wall.

I rarely have problems in DF, if too much is pulled and there is a wipe, the tank will usually pull less on the next try or ask if it was too much. Otherwise, if your not comfortable with speed running, I would suggest a marco that you can click the moment you enter, asking for small - medium pulls (or whatever you comfortable with) with a little <se.#> so that way it alerts them of it, and it is instant.

As a tank, I'm not comfortable with large pulls, especially if I don't know the dungeon. However I go at a pace I'm comfortable with. BLM is my main dps, and as a job that's capable of aoe, I very much appreciate large pulls. I won't force a tank to speedun, but I will groan to myself if a tank is only taking 1 group at a time in a dungeon everyone heavily outgears.

I don't like the mentality of "Read x guide/Watch x video before you do x dungeon". You shouldn't have to do that. I agree that it is helpful, I often do research myself if I am having a hard time with a dungeon or trial. However, people shouldn't be criticized for not doing so, especially if its their first time in a dungeon. Its not that hard and should even be encouraged for the party to provide hints and tips when it comes to strategy. Isn't that the whole point of grouping with others?

Part of the excitement of going into a new dungeon is not knowing what's going to be around the next corner and discovering this or that mechanic. In all honesty, 90% of the time mechanics can be boiled down to

    1. avoid aoe's
    2. kill adds.

Regardless of how people may feel, entering a duty is a time commitment; you should have already been prepared for that going in. If the party is going too slow or too fast for you, instead of making an ass of yourself, you should just suck up the penalty and leave. Go do something else for 30 minutes, as we all know, time flies quickly in this game. idk how many times I've scanned the clock an realized its 2 am, when I could have sword it was 9 pm the last time I looked at it.

Hopefully your next duty will be less of a headache for you.

All these people that say "if the healer or dps pull extra mobs, I let them die" need to get off their high horse and do their job. You're not special because you are the tank. If I'm pulling small and the healer picks up another group, instead of acting like a 5 year old throwing a temper, I just pick up the adds. I'm then happy at that point that i'm probably playing with confident players who know what they can handle and I pick up the pace.

Now if they can't handle it when they do pick them up, that is another story. However, you need to DO YOUR JOB and find that out first before throwing your little tantrum.

If I'm tanking and the DPS deliberately pulls another group of mobs, they're telling me that they want to do my job. I'll let them until they die. If the healer for some reason heals them, I'll make sure the mobs don't go for the healer, but I won't pull mobs off of someone who deliberately pulled mobs to themselves, just like I wouldn't fight for aggro with an off tank.

No. They are telling you that the group can handle more and you should do your part in that endeavor. I'm sure you would never understand that though because of the ego and general "I showed them by letting them die" attitude involved in that line of thinking.
