I'll always remember my first time at the continuum, just one week after the early access.

Pop in the dungeon with my husband, he's healer and i'm dps. We say it's our first time and... The tank starts speedrunning without a word.

We were in crappy gear, it was horrible to heal ; he did it, but it was not fun at all.
I've been a healer for years on Wow but i'll never heal on FFXIV because of speedruns : I go in dungeon for fun (and meet people), not to live a stressful moment.

And about the "just ask to go slowly", you know nobody listen. People just want their poetics/eso as fast as possible, considering the others are just bots.

Just wanted to say : I know that feeling, bro. That's just how mmorpg are now.

Ps : sorry for bad english >.>

I would argue that while some people want to rush through things, you simply can't expect this from Duty Finder. If you want fast, gather a few similarly leveled people and run it until you've achieved your goal.

While not directly related to this thread, I would like to point out that for new players it is extremely difficult to make friends. The community is often hostile towards new players. I, personally, have not found an FC that was particularly helpful, and I only have a few friends IRL that play, but we are not often online at the same time. As a result, in order to go through the main quest line, I am forced to go into DF to run a new dungeon. There are also long spaces between levels doing the main quest line, and when leveling a tank, it is more fun for me to do dungeons than grind quests.
Perhaps if the more experienced players were more open and helpful to new players, then new players would get better faster and then you could all do your speed runs together.

Speed runs are not a problem.

When I am doing dungeons I mostly do as tank.
I never heard complains about speedrunning and I receive about 2 commendations per dungeon in avarege.
People who dont like speed running are just small portion of player base who are complaing on forums. Rest of community is fine with SR.

It annoys me so much when I used to play WHM and a tank tries to 'speed run' through a dungeon, when both DPS are single target focused DPS.

Happens a lot less now though, well, especially when I'm the tank

It's not that simple.. I got booted the other night as a tank because the others wanted the pulls bigger and thats not how I play. I've been tanking for a year and a half now and except for the occasional targeting issue I feel I do a good job. I believe the tank's roles are to keep the mobs numbers at a minimum and to keep the bosses pinned down and away from the others. I don't know how to do it any different and I shouldn't have to change my style just because some mouthy disrespectful a hole wants it done his way. It seems to me that no one respects the tanks in this game. I'm actually working on a dragoon because I'm sick of the stress and BS of people.

That's not entirely true. I respect tanks. I only ask you maintain aggro/get it back if I rip it(and I will stop attacking if I do) and to pull safer. Big pulls don't need to be 15 mobs, even though some people like that. I don't. The bigger the pull the higher chance of a wipe. Unfortunately player like you don't meet a lot of players like me. I've grouped with tanks that pull one group at time and I've been fine with it. On the other hand, I can't do anything about the attitude of the other DPS. Here and there, the other will give the tank a hard time.

I always shake my head when a tank attempts a super massive pull, because I know they aren't going to survive, no matter how good the healer is.

While no one should disrespect you, you should also recognize that party play is a team effort. If your party is requesting a faster pace, it's not unreasonable to accommodate them to the extent that you are able.
