I dunno about all that...single player JRPGs arent all that "casual" to begin with. As far as exping goes, chains among other things are right around the corner with 1.19. Same with more monster and class skill rebalancing/additions/removals, and more. Not to mention we all know that Yoshi and crew are most likely going to force player party battles to the forefront with the storyline (case in point, Ifrit battle since there is no way you and one other helper could take on a Primal going on common sense).

EDIT: Battle Regimens are being taken out and redesigned from the ground up to most likely reward skill/timing in battle...and everything is going towards trying to achieve a good mix of the best of both worlds. Now a spin off title about Eorzea or even back with Vanadiel that takes on a similar fighting style? Sure. But a main expansion? No.

We're trying to get away from the 70%SP / 20%MP (random percentages but my point still stands) stuff that was imposed in the first place.

Single players games tend to have a story 'arc,' that begins, ends, and doesn't leave a lot of loose ends.

FFXIV's lore is gargantuan in size (seriously.) and we've only seen the tip of the iceberg. Frankly, I think it's going to take the entire life of this game to get all of the "Once upon a times" they've given us to their respective "the ends."

Though... I wouldn't mind... if they started working on a separate, isolated storyline that revisits the land of Vana'diel and gives us a replay-able, revisit-able adventure to give the Children of Altana a proper send-off....

thats why i think they should choose one aspect of the world (dragons, ala'mihgo, an island somewhere, maybe the lalafell homeland, etc) and create a closed story arc there based on the games lore. But not an MMO type story. A single player FF story.

For example they could let people choose to start the game on a single player continent/island with the first single player cutscene. and then travel to the current main continent from the first single player town/city/zone. Or people could choose to start in the main mmo area and travel to the single player area.

Also you could let people go to the single player area for free forever. That way ppl can play the single player game whenever they want. And they'd have to pay to unlock the MMO part. Further, some parts of the single player area would be MMO-Style so people would make friends and have an incentive for pay.

    ok heres my point.

    FFXIV is not making money
    its essentially a failure
    Its not getting much better.

a single player mode would allow the game to succeed and last. It has NO effect on you other than giving you an alternative casual way to level ONE job to 40ish.

It would simply be a creative way to set FFXIV apart from all other MMOs and to draw people back to the game consistently.

And btw this game is essentially a single player game. You can solo any job to 50 easily (see my guide) and you can pretty well do everything solo except darkhold and the world NMs. I mean every mission can be solod by a level 1. You can pretty well solo -every- normal nm now. You can easily solo the 30 dungeon. you can solo every quest, every leve.

So the games already single player. All im saying is to make PART of the game like a typical single player game that will attract non-mmo players to it.

I dont like your idea, simple you re trying to make the game become worst, not only for the DoW and DoM but DoH is include, you expect us DoH to grind our ass in single mode to r40 before we can sell item ? or you simple try to push the DoH to a non-exist thing in FFXIV ? and why ppl have to solo to r50 when they have the choose to play together with other player (friends) from r1 ?

what is the point to make the game solo player now ?

note: the 2nd quote might not make sence, but I simply try to point out the duo grind part since he game is not only about quest, quest and quest. Also dont put the point "FFXIV is not making money", they dont take money so ppl can stay and test their fix w/o lost player. I have the proof that player is coming back with my own thread if you want to read it. I and other ppl hadnt beable to play for 2 weeks because of server overload mean that more ppl are in the game than usually also mean there are new player and player coming back.

yes. im a spammer. thats why i have an incredibly detailed solo guide, lore guide, botany guide, exploration guide, and a few more.... I'm clearly just on here to spam and annoy people and not to contribute to the game at all.

This is a mmo, an offline solo game will always outclass a mmo in terms of a single player rpg experience.

Aka XIV has no chance to compete with FFXIII-2 in terms of a solo player game

Single player mode and all the changes and content to even make that work is a complete waste of development. They need to fix the mmo part since it is a mmo. No one should ever play a mmo to play solo all the time, there is a whole genre of non-multiplayer rpg games for that.

why not? FFXI COP was epic storywise and is considered one of the best mmo stories of all time. If they could pull off that type of story, add in cutscenes, and add in a bunch of unique areas they could pull off a fun single player game.

and again THE GAME IS ALREADY SINGLE PLAYER. You can do all the mission and story stuff without a party. So why is making a more in-depth story a bad thing? All im arguing for is solo zones with faster exp so you can level up while you play through the story like in a normal FF. that isn't overly difficult to pull off.
