    Rotating Cool Downs for Warrior

    Hey Guys!

I am still not a 60 Warrior! but have a couple questions on how we should properly use our cool down.

The first being Using Unchained + Berserk, is that still a thing or in periods of low Damage meaning these dungeon mobs that are never ending use unchained for a quick burst of agro then with one or two mobs switch to Deliverance and use Fell Cleave or Decimate.

The other is what is the proper way of using Raw Intuition. The way I see it, I think it would be great to use in between Vengeance and Thrill of Battle. Are you guys doing this or just using it to generate stacks?

TL;DR Cool down management- what is the new proper way to be a boss Warrior?

I'll list out my opinions on the new skills / the other stuff you mentioned (all from a main tanking perspective)!!!!

Unchained + Berserk: I still do this often but depending on the boss fight, I save berserk for Berserk + Equilibrium. Its a disgustingly potent self heal (6k - 9k).

Raw Intuition: Fun skill but its not our strongest cooldown. I have a tendency to use it when the incoming damage isn't too high but still warrants mitigation. Some of the bosses in the Alex raid have a stacking damage buff and I usually pop Raw Intuition as my first cooldown. I say its not our strongest cooldown because it doesn't mitigate magical attacks and contrary to popular belief, there are a decent amount of them. (the tank buster at the end of Fractal is magic and I hate it!)

I'm new to FF14, but I tanked in WoW for years...take that as you will...

Anyway, since snapshotting is a thing in FF14 still, it would make sense to pop those together. I mean, if your normal rotation (at the beginning of a boss fight) tends to be:
    HS > Maim > Storm's Path/Eye > HS > SS > Butcher's Block > Beserk
Then, Unchained makes sense. Unchained will be back up in 2minutes, so you can do the same routine. Maximizing damage is useful.

I Don't personally Like opening up with infuriate and I wonder if Popping both Berserk and Unchained is Overkill for initial aggro grabbing. For Pure on DPSing while tanking though I suppose Thats amazing but I've been wondering about the viability of unchained since I Can now just stance dance.

Maybe I'm the only one but I find myself using unchained less and less since fell cleave.

I Guess I would need someone showing Potency maths of a full on Unchained rotation vrs Maim - Storms Eye (Stance Dance)Berserk Fell Cleave infuriate Fell Cleave

Anyway, all of the elitism is unwarranted. It isn't as if everyone here is PVPing to compete for openworld Raid bosses or anything like that. Heck, most of us don't even pvp.

Unchained is only good if you are the MT. Outside of that you're better off switching to Deliverance.

Your first question. Its situational. The only time to use Unchained now is trying to get bigger IB hits, or increasing heals from second wind/equilibrium while tanking. Changes to defiance have reduced the original Unchained + Berserk bad for DPS. And with the new deliverance there are plenty of opportunities for you to drop Defiance (Rav Ex Prelude, Lib, Swift Lib, and Final Lib Phases, Alex4 between phases, Alex1 since boss DPS is lower than normal, on adds or otherwise), put on Deliverance, and go to town for your burst.

I disagree with Gooner. Raw Intuition is probably one of our most versatile, high uptime defensive CDs outside of IB. It lasts for an extremely long time, and has a moderately low cool down. It is excellent for absorbing a great deal of physical AAs, and Special attacks (Gooner uses A4 as an example to say there arent many physical attacks in the game. A3 is a perfect example of a fight that you can use Raw intuition to negate a ton of damage from hand swipes in the boss's second phase. This comes down more to knowledge of your fight and opponent).

What it comes down to is not just blowing your CDs in a rotation, as if you were a paladin, trying to keep 100% uptime.

You want to be a good warrior? Learn the fight, know when big hits are coming, time your IBs, and use your additional CDs for hits that IB isn't ready for, or for extended, large amounts of damage you need to mitigate.

Thats how I was actually planning on using Raw Intuition. I wont use it for tank busters, instead still use our trusty IB and Vengeance or IB and Thrill of Battle.

I could just imagine how much easier tanking t11 would be with raw intuition (besides our new levels, old content, and was super easy before echo).

I guess it will depend on on other factors for unchained and berserk for now.
