New stuck at 50 primals

the triad is needed for some quest in 2.4 iirc. Better safe than sorry in any case, as they are easy to kill nowadays

Surprisingly, Kuwagami is correct - the final quest of the 2.4 patch story Let Us Cling Together requires Ifrit, Titan and Garuda hard mode battles to be completed in order to be unlocked. I guess as most players who are on Heavensward already completed those fights long ago to gain their relic weapons thus didn't notice that requirement when that quest was added, but there you are.

But yeah, they're pretty easy now (Titan probably would be the only one to give trouble, but even a lot easier to deal with now than he was in the old days *shudders*).

To be honest the only extreme that I have done is Ifrit, Garuda and Titan...
They aren't necessary just follow your MSQ.

I personally am amongst those calling out for a raid and extreme primal roulette to help newer people through it and have my own fun.

Well, they did allow those of us to queue for the trials daily who hadn't completed the long list of prereq so that was thoughtful of them. It was strange to see that option open for me when HW hit and, when I use it, I only get put into the trials associated with the main story line so I suppose it's working.

I have HW I can't start it til I finish 2.51 or whatever the last patch is a realm reborn. That's my conundrum I want to start the HW expansion but I can't til I finish the old patches which require the hard extreme modes.

You don't need any extremes. I finished all the old content on the day of release so it's still fresh in my mind. I haven't even unlocked the three main trials in EM. I can take a screenie if you need further proof. XD

You only need the main story quests. Garuda, Titan and Ifrit hard are not part of msq and are not needed to enter Heavensward. Just do the quests with the msq icons. There is no need to track down any quest.

I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure you need those hard modes cleared down the line some where.

I think people are confusing the terms for hard mode and extreme mode. I'll lay it simply:

There are only a few normal versions of primals: the first Ifrit, Titan, and Garuda fights for example. These are basically intro trials, and most of them are required for MSQ.

The Hard Mode primals are essentially the normal version for level 50+. Most primal trials don't even have a "normal" version, as these Hard Mode version are their normals. Examples include Leviathan and King Mog. Many of the Hard Mode primals are required for MSQ.

Exreme Mode primals are harder than Hard Mode primals. Not a single Extreme Mode primal is required for MSQ to date and are just side quests.
