Well they are using the older definition of the word, even though the modern definition tends to trump it as the first thing in people's minds.
I would have preferred the name of "Sanctuary" to fit within the holy/religious-motif of WHM.



Asylum ticks stronger than Medica II but weaker than Regen. Though it's free, has a nice recast and is beautiful. It's another nice instrument in the WHM arsenal. I use it when I overHoT the tank before going full DPS or when I soloheal for example two separate tanks or groups. The only thing I don't like about it is the icon: why is it green and yellow? Makes no sense at all other than making my hotbar uglier, if Stone 3 wasn't ugly enough already >.>

Not sure what these people are talking about with 500 ticks.. Mine is right about 700 all i180. It's basically the same exact healing per cast as an AST's Collective Unconscious, only it lasts a bit longer. My CU on AST ticks for 1000, but the duration is equally shorter. My Regen on WHM ticks for about 1000-1300 as well depending.
It is not situational. It is not useless. Spam the hell out of it. It's free healing and very easy to use. Throw it down on the tank ANY time your tank stops moving and it's not on cool down. It lasts 24 seconds. It's a great spell



It's kinda hard to appreciate exactly how powerful Asylum is, but much like Regen, people will learn to. 800 potency healing for potentially multiple targets over time, without a single point of MP? Hella. Hell, that's more than Tetragrammaton does if someone stays in it the entire time. I've taken to alternating Asylum's cooldown with Divine Seal for Regens where possible, because either DS+Regen or Regen+Asylum is plenty enough to keep tanks up in almost all cases so I can do other things.
I'd almost take offense to the idea it's the worst of the new WHM skills if not for the fact that, frankly, all five new abilities WHM got are amazing.



Not very potent. I use it mostly on big pulls along side divine seal/regen so I can get some dps in. I also use it in 8 man fights with regen on whichever tank is needing extra healing.

Not sure why people are complaining, and while I wouldn't argue about it getting buffed...I would hate to see drastic changes to how it works. This along with pretty much every single new ability just adds the utility that WHM was lacking, and makes it feel like I have more control of the flow of battles. I want to DPS a lot, divine sealed regen + asylum, in standard dungeon runs it means i don't have to even think about the tank for 20 seconds. DPS taking ongoing damage or I just want to herd them somewhere, throw up asylum.
I now have 4 aoe heal options, 3 regen options, two insta cast heals, 2 mana regen abilities, and 3 AOE DPS spells. I LOVE how all of these things work together now. And looking at an ability like asylum on it's own just ignores the effect it has as part of your entire arsenal
