Character Creation Limits

Hello,

I signed up to play FFXIV about a week ago with hopes of playing with some friends on the Excalibur server. Unfortunately character creation was disabled, and i still have not been able to play with my friends even though I am paying for a subscription.

Today I noticed that the character creation for Excalibur was once again available according to this website: http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...06d0909189e479

However, when I get in game, I still get the same message: This world is not accepting any new characters. You may either wait for the restriction to be lifted, or you may select another World.

What gives??

Unfortunately that isnt the best to go by for if a server is open. Since it only updates every 3 or 4hrs. So when it last update it was probably open. but closed sometime after before the list updated agian. The list is only accurate within a few mins of the list updating.
I dont know the best times to create a character on Excalibur.

Any tips would be appreciated for being successful at creating a character on Excalibur. I feel like i'm wasting time at the character creation page just hitting refresh over and over.

Iv been at it for 3 days... tryna create on famfrit, like i dont think its fair that people pay a monthly fee for them to to tell you that you can create 8 characters per server to a max of 40.. and i cant even create a 3rd character cause of this congestion.. what they should do inforce character creations by giving the player 7 days to reach level 20 or 30 on 1 class (Dom or DoW) and if they do not reach it.. then they will be told that the character will be deleted.. to save room for newer players.. cause people create characters just for botting and shit.. and its annoying

The server are not closed due to total character amount on a server but to how many are curtly playing on that server at a given time. The character restriction is to help prevent overload on high pop servers.

This. People who already have characters are waiting in queues to join if it's locked for character creation. They aren't going to make it easy for you to create characters on overloaded servers as you are only making the overpopulation problem worse. That's hurting the long time players who were on the server long before it was overpopulated.

I looked up the times for Excalibur, if found: 1am-5:30am EST/EDT will posably be the best times to try and make a character. None of the info i found said these times made the server garinteed to be open just more likely to be open than closed.

So how does this work? When the website says character creation is temporarily disabled, does that mean no matter what, even if the current server population is low, characters can't be made until a switch is flipped? Or is it updated in real time and if a spot opens up, it will show up even if the website says it's currently disabled?

^ This is the only time I've been able to have friends make a character on Excalibur.

Since the lodestone list dousnt update in real time the list isnt always correct in what it says. So for instance say the server you want opens. But if it opens before that lodestone list updates(the list updates every 5hrs) the lodestone list will say its closed while its atuly open. Thats why the lodestone list isnt very useful unless your looking at it right after it updates(with in like 30mins of it updating). Its best to look up the "inactive" times for the server, were there is less players on at a given time.
