Thanks OP, now I can't unsee this. But yeah, it's pretty bad, lol. I'm sure they did it because of clipping issues, but....since when they did care about that? My robe cuts right through my chocobo's neck.

They really need to fix the hair clipping issue as well. I know they said they won't fix it but why should we accept it? Lots of post 2013 games don't have this issue anymore.

75% of the Robe for both Male and Females cause clipping, when I walk / run / sit on Chocobo or do some Emotes...
This could've been solved easily with Physics, but it's time consuming.
tressfx is a Solution, fact is ... FFXIV ARR uses a outdated modified Luminous Engine and I highly doubt it gets Updated to Luminous Engine 2.0.
(The first Version of tressfx is so Perfomance Heavy, I could barely run Tomb Raider with tressfx turned on)

Ancient Allagan back mounting equipment is sewn into each and every piece of your armor as an adventurer. Using the concept of aetheric polarity, these objects operate much like the discs in maglev tech.
Sooooo....Yeah. That's canon now. I deem it as such.

The reason to that (I think) is to prevent clipping with some hairstyles, specially the ponytail one.
What people are asking for is less gear. At least the vocal minority is saying they would much prefer 25% of the gear we currently have an no clipping. Because that's what you get when you ask to remove clipping, with no clipping they have to take that extra time to fine tune each and every piece of weapon/gear/hair etc etc to fit the design of the character.
Rather than just say weapon goes to back, they have to go weapon goes to back in position x if:
wearing robe
wearing baggy body armor
wearing leather armor
etc
etc
So instead of say weather staff fits on back, they have to do:
align
x to a
x to b
x to c
x to d.
But keep in mind it's not as simple as x to a-d they have to take this into account. hyuran, rogy's elezen, lalafell, miquote and now AU ra.
So now look at the above 5 things to keep in mind, 6 races, 2 sexes, in case of hyuran it's double cause midlander/highlanders are differnet in body type compared to other races so now you have 5 x 14=70 variables to keep in mind.
With the current system it's just weapon to back and done, 1 variables among the 14 options and it's 14, so what you are asking for is for them to nearly sixfold their efforts just to remove clipping, so now they can only work at 1/6 the speed per item, release 1/6 the gear etc etc. It's a snowball effect.

If they're not gonna fix the clipping issue then at least they should stop making shirts with big hood on the back. make more shirts with scarf. they look better than hoods anyway.

All I can say..is companies that worry about clipping if they put sheaths in their game...Legend of Zelda has done sheaths since Ocarina of time.
This was very noticeable during a certain MSQ cutscene.
With Hilda in the Forgotten Knight. Her gun just FLOATS THERE in space as she moves around.

Fair enough. I just wanted to be sure you weren't mistaking the two.
To be fair any clipping you see gets worse when you're the biggest Roegadyn. I think my mind started just filtering it out.
