Game Crashes after patch

I downloaded the patch this afternoon and loaded up the game. I get to the character selection screen, choose my character and the game starts to load. There's the little moogle guy carrying mail and dropping his letters all over the place and BOOM...game crashes. I get the FFXIV has stopped working prompt and it closes. What can I do to remedy this? (I'm on pc)

not sure if this will help any but for me, after the 3.01 patch i can't play in dx11 anymore. it just crashes. no error, no loading, nothing. i hit the log in button and crash. change to DX9 and everything loads fine. so i guess try DX9 see if you can get in?

Eeek, I'm already on dx9 =/ I tried uninstalling and reinstalling my video drivers and deleting and reinstalling patch files and I'm still having the same issue
