Progress different between classes?

I started on CRP and cedar lumber. It is a 169 difficulty synth. I'd end with ingenuity 2 and it would take me 2 attempts of CSII to finish. Actually I'd near finish on the first CSII. I think ING2 with CSII was like 167 progress?

Now that I'm starting on BSM and Mythrite Nuggets, same 50 gears as I was on CRP, progress is much different. I'm ending the same way with ING2 and the CSII are only 80 progress, take 3 steps to complete.

Any ideas what's going on?

I think you had something melded differently between the two classes.

I had melds the exact same way, especially offhand tools, and was getting the exact same progress on those level 51 recipes, regardless of class.

BTW, it took me two CS2's to do those recipes at the start. Ing 2 did not help me at all. "Help me" being defined as reducing the number of CS2's needed to finish the synth. So what I did was use the following pattern :
CA, IQ, CS2, SH2, WN, HT, HT, HT, HT, Manip, SH2, WN, HT, HT, HT, HT, Byregot's finisher, CS2.

When I got to the point where one CS2 was enough to finish it (at exactly 169 progress) I dropped the first CS2 and swapped the first SH2, WN around to WN, SH2.

i dont think melds make that much difference. most likely your CRP is lvl 51 or higher and BSM lvl 50, even with same gear, the lvl difference between your class and recipe lvl is important when it comes to progress.

Your BSM is level 50. Once you hit 51 you'll notice a huge change when it comes to synthing HW recipes.

You might be right, though I coulda sworn i started doing HW synths on my CRP at lv50 and using 2 CSII to finish.

There are a couple recipes (like void glue) that are 210 difficulty and 4561 max quality at level 51 compared to the 'normal' 169/3951. It's why I keep dragging my feet levelling alchemist, even though I need that holy water for half my other recipes - it seems to be one of the prime offenders in that category.
