    NPC Dialogue Choices

hello. i think it would be cool to be able to open up the "Smalltalk" option when an NPC has a quest for us. or to just be able to speak to the NPC normally. like for example, you are lv50 and go to accept your level50 class/job quest. the ONLY thing you can do is open up the quest dialogue window to accept the quest. however, if you change your class/job you can then choose Smalltalk. from the Smalltalk option it either will start the only dialogue that NPC currently has, or it will give like the options to choose "how fares it lately?" or 'what is such-and-such?', or even those other two choices, something like... 'what do you do here?' and 'what kind of place is this?'.

i just think it would be nice to be able to speak to the NPC normally without immediately bringing up the quest window. like make the quest window-thingy an actual option we have to choose through a dialogue choice.

I agree it's rather frustrating. I just ran into another instance of this type of issue the other day.

I was doing Ixali quests and three of them sent me to talk to Fyrbryda, who of course needed me to fetch her some stuff. They're daily repeatable quests, but this was the first time I'd done these particular ones, so I was trying to follow the story and see what was happening. See, there's a little story that goes along with each of the things she asks for, and if you talk to her again regarding that quest after having made what you need, that's where she tells you how things worked out. It's one of those optional dialogs, associated with a quest but not a required part of it (the ones with the little blue circle instead of the quest icon on the menu to choose what to talk to her about).

But, rather frustratingly, after making the item for the second of those three quests, I was no longer allowed to talk to her about it. At that point, exactly one of my quests had a dialog with her as my next objective, so that dialog automatically overrode all other dialogs she had available. I would have rather been able to find out how her pregnant sister was doing (the optional dialog on the second of those quests, the one I'd just done) and then go on to turning in the wood she needed for some shelters that were being built (the third quest).

She actually had four dialog options (1 for each of my 3 quests with her, plus a smalltalk option), and when two or more were quest objectives or none of them were quest objectives, I had the ability to pick any of the four. But when I got down to just one of the four being a quest objective, that blocked the options to choose any of the other 3, rather the same way you're blocked from just talking to your job trainer when there's another job quest available.
