I don't know why people are comparing Alex's loot system to Coil's. They're not the same tier of content.
Anyways, it doesn't matter if you're doing it with a static or through DF/PF. In a static you will run it until everyone gets a token - so at least 16 runs. Through DF/PF, you have something like a 25% chance at winning so you'd need 16 runs on average to get 1 token per turn.
For a static or farm party, it's grindy but fair. For everything else, it's worse than the old system.
Token systems are meant to guarantee reward with incremental progression. The big problem with the old loot system is you could continually get nothing every clear. This current system is only a half-solution. You can still repeatedly get nothing every clear. The real solution is to guarantee tokens, make them generic and increase the amount needed per item. It's the same resulting number of runs but you eliminate RNG.
