Smn hit 60 over the weekend =p I just haven't gotten it any gear yetIf u have not started yet u're already late my friend. Almost got my SCH to 55..hope to get it to 60 by the end of the week.
What SE did to Bard was simple: Play under WM or dont play Bard. Because if u choose to not play WM your DPS is gonna be lower than your chocobo!!!
Next I'll be levelling my BLM to 60. If its for me to be a caster I'll be playing a Caster Class instead.
Am I a butterfly dreaming I'm a man... Or a bowling ball dreaming I'm a plate of sashimi?
Bard and machinist are both practically dead to me now.
A lot of people seem to be misunderstanding the main problem that people have with the skill. Its not the loss of mobility or the damage that is the major problem for most people. The problem is that they made us into casters(bowmage) and forced a change of the entire playstyle of the job onto those of us who have been playing since 1.0/2.0.
There were many other and far more effective ways of limiting our mobility and increasing damage then these stupid tacked on skills that dont feel like they belong on the job at all. For example, they could have gone with a passive buff that stacks up to say 3 stacks to increase your damage that you receive after standing still for a few seconds and the moment you move, the buff is removed and you get a debuff for like 15 seconds or something that prevents you from earning the buff again till it wears off and you stand still again.
I dont have a problem with lack of mobility or damage but one thing i really hate is cast timers and to have them forced on us after playing for 2 years with almost all instant cast weaponskills is like a giant slap in the face to anyone that prefers the original playstyle.
I'm sure if they added cast timers to all of dragoons, ninja or monks weaponskills that they would be pretty pissed off as well.
And to those that keep saying if you dont like it, dont use it, you might as well tell the person to switch jobs or something because if the stance happens to provide a significant increase in damage over not using it, you can gaurantee no one will be inviting you to a group if you dont use it. It would be like bringing along a summoner that doesnt want to use DoTs, thats sure to go over well with the party.

Im a BLM main. I can see why people like to play Archer or bard...
Its basically BLM with mobility and utility but not as much DPS. Now its Mobility is similar to that of BLM. Now Archers still get out dpsed by BLMs but now play much more like BLMs with utility that is...kinda meh. I can see the issue.
The problem imo with Bard is they were getting out shined by other dpsers because their utility is way to weak with lower damage. Now their play style involves standing still recycling through keys which could possibly remove the action the movement sort of added in. People here are saying so what get over it. Get used to it, change classes or quit. How is that good for anyone? The object of any game is for people to have fun. I understand being happy with changes/additions and grateful for them but this yes man crap is unbearable.
If you play mostly classes that weren't Bard how is saying "Stop qq'ing Bards, this job (BLM/etc) does damage that way fine, nut up or quit" good or acceptable in any way. In fact People like this make me want to quit gaming with people all in general. This isn't some F2P game we should be happy we can play...We are paying for this game, to play it. When a Game play style interest you(Bard) while also providing different play styles(jobs/etc), an update changes the job(s) you like playing in a certain way to be in line and more similar to another job(s) in to a different experience you want you get Star Wars Galaxies to an extent. Any one here remember that shit. Its up to people to complain about changes if they don't like them. Accept that. How is saying get over it even fair. That is idiotic. Do you think Arkham Knight would have got pulled from Steam if people didn't complain about it?
So you want WoW's Marksmanship Hunters. Their mastery increases their damage and range if they stand still and gives them a debuff that removes the mastery if they move for a certain amount of time. If they stand still afterwards, they gain a buff that, after another certain amount of time, either removes the debuff or reactivates the mastery. There were many other and far more effective ways of limiting our mobility and increasing damage then these stupid tacked on skills that dont feel like they belong on the job at all. Honestly never played WoW, was a FFXI player so i wouldn't know.So you want WoW's Marksmanship Hunters. Ultimately it was just an example i could think of from the top of my head as a way that achieved the same effect as WM without completely butchering the class but there are many other ways it could be done also.
Here's some numbers if people are interested. I'm i179. I logged early this morning and tested briefly.
With Wanderer's Minuet on before patch I was getting 4400 Sidewinder crits with all abilities popped, ~6000 Barrage->Empyreal Arrow. After patch, 3400 Sidewinder crit with all abilites popped, ~6000 Barrage->Empyreal Arrow.
So, all in all, Sidewinder was the only hit Bards really took. But as someone pointed out earlier, the increase in DoT dmg by 10% actually makes up for that.
