I always thought this is how MMORPGs work.. but maybe i was wrong all the time.
Sometimes i feel like, the majority of people who complain about stuff like this, never played an MMORPG before..

While I don't mind the old stuff and ways being carried over, I have to say I'm quite disappointed that there wasn't any new type of content added at all. I guess collectibles was the closest thing to some new type of busy work. I don't mind grinding or gear treadmills, but it would have been refreshing to have some new way around of doing it that we didn't have in 2.0 already.

Its a continuation of the story in the same world. We didn't blast off the plant to a new one. Of course its going to be similar we are still in the same place, with mostly the same people, just bigger. I'm having a great time with it, but I don't bum rush the content. I take my time with it and enjoy the sights along the way. If you do constant grinding of the same thing over and over, of course you're going to get burnt out. No where does it say we must be max ilvl a week or two after release. Playing the game 24/7 will wear anyone out. But people do it, then complain. I still have a ton of stuff to do, all my crafters/gatherers are still sitting at 50. I guess it comes down to what you enjoy. If you're not enjoying yourself any more then the choice is obvious. If you want to continue on with the game, change up what you do, and maybe it will help.
Maybe you should put gearing aside for a patch and enjoy something else like triple triad, chocobo racing or crafting for a change.

"What else is darkness but hate and rage? Xehanort is feeding the dark fires within you—making you fight. You'll go astray again. Tell me—how does that honor our Master's memory, Terra?" ~Aqua

To OP don't, instead uninstall the game and don't come back because if you're too uppity to play through the bad and the good and the nostalgic, and the game has no thrill for you then you don't need to play it. Don't just throw your hands up and plop your angry a%% on the forums to complain because you're a special snowflake that will melt if everything is not completely new for you.
Uh....were you expecting something different?
Just be glad we still have tomes unlike WoW where they abandon currency items for gold and left basically no reason to go into dungeons or actually play the game.

Chevrefoil, the only reason to do the top 2 dungeons in this game is for law, the gear that drops from there is unusable at 60 for Alexander, yep, that's right, the new gear SE introduced for level 60's is basically worthless to level 60's because the ilvl is too low to run Alex...... awesome game design there SE, bring in brand new gear that is worthless, bring in dungeons where the only reason to run them is for tokens to upgrade your gear to run another dungeon.
So, we run 60 dungeons which drops gar which is of zero use to a level 60, to get law, to upgrade your gear to run Alexander, to get new ilvl gear for......... standing around waiting for 2 more dungeons to pop which will drop gear on par with Alex, but drops a brand new form of tokens which you need to upgrade your gear to run Alexander part 2? That's fun... really, amazing fun, I so can't wait to repeat the same stuff I've been doing since the start of 2.0.
