Again, if you need convinced to play a video game because you aren't having fun, you're doing it wrong... There are millions of games out there. Go find one you like... It's not like your telling us you like the game but would also like improvements. Why are you even here?
This thread boils down to: "I dont like this video game that I choose to play. They should change it into a completely different game even though this game is 10 times more successful than the one I want it to be! I can't just find something I like because I need drama!"

I'm not convinced the op is for real if he is trotting out Legacy subscription as a reason he is owed horizontal progression.
There nothing wrong with not playing the game anymore. Think if it this way, not playing a game you don't like anymore isn't a waste, it allows you to find a better use of your time.
And that 130 gear from coil actually helped me a lot in the msq. You know, the part you have to do first?

SkizzleofRagnarok
Seeming providing our perspective and comparing the game within the context of your favorite MMO experience isn't convincing for you. Let's take a different approach.
What's your gaming history, besides just MMOs? Any favorite titles of Yore. Do not limit it to RPGs. I want to go deeper. Give us a preview of your gaming history a while. Rather than make examples off our experiences, or those outside, I wish to use examples within your own history.
I have a feeling that you approached this game with the wrong ideals, the wrong perspectives, and I hope to use your own experiences to correct that. Not for the sake of argument, but for the sake of giving you a new perspective so you may enjoy the game more.

Hyrist: I only play RPGs/adventure games to be honest and the only MMORPG I dedicated my time to aside from this was FFXI. Played WoW, Wildstar, Rift, Star Wars,RF Online, Ragnarok online etc I gave alot of MMORPGs a chance but i always went back to FFXI cause it was the game for me I didnt like everything about it but i grew up with that game so that is why i hold it so dear because it gave me a different type of gameplay compared to the other MMORPGs I mentioned.
RPGS:
Chrono Trigger
Nier
Suikoden
Atelier Iris
Final Fantasy
Metal Gear
Castlevania
etc

He might mean the igavanias (SOTN, OOE, Harmony of Despair, etc.)
Even they had some measure of vertical progress. True horizontal progress would end up affecting the need to explore and find more powerful items. It was far more interesting facing a boss with new stuff instead of playing richer mode and "Hydro Storm!" Ing everything to death.
Or to take a page from Harmony. Floating Soma with Valmanways. You practically won the game the instant you had this overpowered monstrosity of a build. Takes a lot of the teeth right out of a fight, and the game, for other players once you had two or three soma with em.
And no matter what additions there were, unless it was a Valmanways +1 soma players wouldn't touch it. Seems like a waste, right? And it poisoned everything those blades touched.

Thank, you, but I'd rather he speak for himself. We are, after all, trying to address his desires in this thread, and how some measure of them or general enjoyment can be gleaned from the game as it is now. I'd rather not tip my hand as to how, until I've reached my conversational point. It's better that he reaches it with me, than just to lay it all out in front of him -as in forums, it tends to come out as badgering.

Played FFXI for a long time and thoroughly enjoyed it but it had its issues, which folks here can feel free to go on at length about. Been playing FFXIV since 2.0 beta and thoroughly enjoy it, though it too is not without its flaws. For starters, XIV could use a couple of coil-esque quality challenging 24-man raids that Free Companies could instance and do together as a group. Besides that and a few other minor tweaks the game could use, this is still a very solid MMO.
If you're not finding yourself enjoying it in its current state, this might not be the game for you. It will never be a FFXI-clone and no amount of expansions are going to get it there or even close, no matter how much former XI players long for it to be.

Hyrist: almost all versions of castlevania from nes to xbox/ps3 versions to the 3ds ones. Its an adventure game for me and not a rpg so i still don't understand why people yet again intentionally pick on minor things such eeemergad he thinks castlevania is an a rpgs (almost sounds that far fetched). Anyways enough of that negativity. I've made my point we are not going anywhere with this discussion it will come to do Yoshi P fanboys vs FFXI dreamers.
