    All this BLM negativity. ...

    I see post after post, about people saying BLM is no good or even useless. I highly disagree. Granted our AoE isn't what it used to be. BLM still do great dmg. When im in dungeons, and situations arise, I melt mobs quicker then most dps. I've watched dps fight mobs, and sometimes they take awhile. Then a BLM shows up, and mob dies much quicker. In majority of the dungeons I run, I use the new abilities and do great. Its all about timing. Even on the new 60 dungeons, against bosses, ill go into enochian rotation and do big numbers. Im sure SMN is great at AoE now, as people say. But blm still does big overall dmg.

    Our aoe damage isn't bad, it's just not as awesome as it was.

    Enochian can be a pain in the ass, though, and I think it needs a few QoL tweaks otherwise it's just going to be incredibly frustrating in certain situations. But at the same time, when I have the freedom to stand still and spam fire 4 things melt.

    Our AOE is pretty good, not as OP as it used to be, but our single target is amazing. The problem occurs when boss mechanics are introduced and you need to move a lot. Like every boss in Neverreap where you need to actually follow mechanics then Enochian gets thrown out of wack most of the time and you have to revert to the old rotation. Sometimes you can save it because you finish moving totems and can get off a Blizz4 to refresh Enochian but a lot of the time you don't have time for it and end up wasting it all together. When we can sit in the same place for a set amount of time our DPS rocks but AF/Enochian can still use a bit of tweaking to get it right.

    Wait, people are saying BLM is bad? BLM is fine, what're you talking about.

    It's the physical ranged classes that got busted. BLM's AoE was nerfed but their single target got better. It's kind of weird, but as a class they still function really well.

    With not much endgame experience yet, but my numbers are good, even if im not 100% used to the new rotations.

    When you dont have jumping bosses, or that whirlwind BS like in bismark, i am most of the time able to fully refresh enochian all the time. (and for the first ones, you just need to find the rythm)

    my numbers are ok, actually competing with our ninja, leaving the bards way behind me (dunno if they are bad, or the job got more support/less damage, but our WAR did as much dps as them xD)

    For dungeons, SMN might be a option for me soon, giving it a shot, but in trials atm i feel quite comfortable with my blm, and dungeons are okay, outdpsing most acompanied DDs, no matter which class ... just lets see what alexander brings in today ;-)

    The mobs do not die faster, it is what we call "dps spikes".
    While casting, you see the target's HP gradually dropping bit by bit, with BLM once you release a nuke it takes off a bigger chunk of the mob's HP due to BLM's high potency of spells.
    So while you cast your spell, a DRG will do the same amount of damage you do over time - and not as a single nuke.
    BLMs are awful as of right now, i should know, mine is ilvl 179. I rerolled to SMN, and i can't be happier.
    Our damage is fine, the problem is our movement during fights.
    As for AoE, SMN tearing BLMs into nothing!

    The reason some BLMs think they suck is because they do, not the job. Expert roulette rotation I saw the other day:

    Fire 3 > Flare > Transpose > Blizzard 3 > Blizzard 3 (again for some reason) > wait > wait > wait > wait > Fire 3...

    Leveling as BLM dungeons went noticeably faster at minimum level for the dungeon vs WAR in party without BLM or SMN, 20-30 minutes vs 25-40 minutes.
