    Disciples of the Land need a revamp

    You know it, i know it and they know it - crafting in this game is awesome. I love the fact that each crafting attempt is a strategic battle between my foresight,wits, gear, my job's skills and mercilessly decreasing durability, crafting stamina and persnickety luck.

    And then I slam my face into the wall when it's time to gather. Why is it so bad?
    It's basicallly RNG on click, with pinch of % i can throw in. When i gather i feel more like a clickbot then the deciding factor, that gets rewarded for smart choices and punished for bad..

    HQ is capped by 15%, and not my intelligence and skills. There is not risk/reward when i gather based on what skill i use. There's simply RNG. Yaaaaawn.
    And the stealth snail movement speed! Aren't RPG about overcoming such difficulties as your character grows. And i don't mean clenching your teeth irl harder.

    It's fine as is.

    Crafting requires a lot more thinking, carefulness, and is more "risk/reward" because it requires skilled handwork. It's how it works in the real world too.

    A carpenter has to put a lot more thought into their work than a lumberjack. A swordmaker has to put a lot more thought into their work than a miner. Finished products require processing, someone providing base materials only does that - get the materials.

    Making gathering raw materials a complicated mini game would also make providing them in bulk to crafters much more difficult.

    HQ is capped at 15% normally... Then you can come across nodes that add up to 30%... And you have Ability to add 30% for the rest of the attempts... and an additional 20% for the next hit.
    So you can get up to 95% HQ that way.
    And if you do a chain #4, you can use an ability that gives you 100% HQ for the remaining attempts.

    I find myself enjoy Collectable and Aetherial Reduction a lot, may be you didn't try it yet? That may be what you are looking for.

    I detested mining in 2.0 - I levelled 50-60 in HW cos I just thought it would be the fastest way to make easy gil, but I'm actually ENJOYING mining. The collectible system and the "desynthesis" from ephermeral nodes actually makes it more engaging and there was zero grinding involved, its more about finding good rotations to get the most from collectible and ephermeral nodes.

    true i am level 26 miner atm i believe. If there's more up there (asides what's in the action bar, these i saw, but their costs are horrendous) then maybe there's more to mining.

    I personally would very much likt to see crafing style mining where one uses his skills to better identify the node (for potential bonuses) or to mine for increased chances of HQ but at cost to gp and risking attracting enemy attention (unless proper, again, gp costing countermeasures are taken).

    I'll look into that collectible system and desythesis then, maybe that's my missing link.

    The big caveat to this one is that it requires the perfect conditions to work, and in most cases all you'll get is a single guaranteed HQ since you have to have gathered 5 items on the same node before it kicks in. That basically restricts its use to those rare nodes which give +2 gathering chances or those willing to burn 300-600 GP on increased chances through Ageless Words or something.

    Still, I rather like my botanist as-is for the most part. The only thing I'd say that needs changing is the GP regeneration. It is without a doubt the slowest resource to regenerate in the game, and we can't even craft our own cordials. When you're not on the class it will only regenerate up to around 400 GP total, so when you finally swap back to Botanist you'll have to recover the rest in your own time.

    With all of our gathering and collecting skills being so darned expensive, why is this the one resource which is so heavily penalized?

    Ah, yes... 2.0 mining is just rather dull. I'd recommend just doing leves and GC hand ins to get to 50. The HW gathering system is considerably better.

    ah sorry, I didn't check your level. Like Olivia said, pre lv 50 gathering is just a click and pray but once you unlock Collectible, it's like crafting that you plan and use actions/GP to improve rarity of item you are gathering as collectible and at later level, it affect the item you gain from "Reduction", it quite fun system.
