You know it, i know it and they know it - crafting in this game is awesome. I love the fact that each crafting attempt is a strategic battle between my foresight,wits, gear, my job's skills and mercilessly decreasing durability, crafting stamina and persnickety luck.

And then I slam my face into the wall when it's time to gather. Why is it so bad?
It's basicallly RNG on click, with pinch of % i can throw in. When i gather i feel more like a clickbot then the deciding factor, that gets rewarded for smart choices and punished for bad..

HQ is capped by 15%, and not my intelligence and skills. There is not risk/reward when i gather based on what skill i use. There's simply RNG. Yaaaaawn.
And the stealth snail movement speed! Aren't RPG about overcoming such difficulties as your character grows. And i don't mean clenching your teeth irl harder.
