I went for high retrieval instead of speed. Did I do something wrong? Still nothing but logs and branches from 24.

Did you max out the forecastle? We've been getting a lot of sticks too and maybe that's just bad rng luck, but those that have juiced up their forecastle appear to be having a much better time of it. Our best ship was inv/bronc/tat/tat, but it's been renamed the SS Stick Getter since the patch for a reason. We're slowly working on adjusting the ship parts, but it's rather depressing that the current parts that were working decently before the patch are now nearly worthless.

edit: And after I post this the stick getter brings back some V materia, an iron voyage spoil, some crafting materia and of course to top it off, half a stack of hq birch branches.

Just chiming in, we also upgraded to a Viltgance (the spelling of this word really bothers me) forecastle and seem to have had good results with iron voyage spoils and grade V materia. We're running the Odyssey Aftcastle with it and just settling for really slow voyages. Lately it seems like all of our fast ships have really taken a hit with the ratings they're coming back with. I feel like we haven't seen an A or S ranking with our faster ships in weeks.

When did paying attention to the voyage rating become a thing?

I use 7 airships and I've got 17 spoils since the patch, only one airship has tatanora forecastle, everything else is a mix between inv II, enter and ody, basically most of them have balanced stats, not excelling at anything really, so I'm with Nyalia in that you don't really need a high retrieval/surveillance airship to get regular spoils, and it would be better to focus on speed.

Ratings are totally a thing! I'm not disagreeing that you can definitely get a lot of spoils from just RNGing it with fast ships. I was just saying that I've noticed that it feels like the ratings for our faster ships are lower while this slow ship (in general) seems to come back with higher rankings from its missions. This was a lucky pull with 6 grade 5 materia from the ship mentioned above.

Last I checked, the rating was not based upon the entire voyage, but instead, based upon the last leg or something, making it a rather useless piece of information ... Which is why I asked when caring about that rating became a thing. You can get excellent results with a poor rating, excellent results with a great rating, poor results with a poor rating, and poor results with an excellent rating. So why care about the rating?

slince last few updates i notice that my airships are not bring anymore lvl 4 control materia from sector 17 :3
i spam it already sector 17 for around 3 weeks now with 4 airships which have all high stats and still nothing not even one lvl 4 control materia.

does anyone notice something like that too?

PS: my airship stats are 100/100/100/86/104, 110/122/68/94/118, 128/108/72/94/132, 106/140/50/98/118 if matter slince i dont use the new gear which come up last time :3

Pretty sure A, B, and D don't have enough surveillance to get 4s anymore. I only started getting them when I painstakenly replaced all the airships with inv/bro/vilt/ody

They've made other changes to the airships to this point, why wouldn't they have potentially changed the way rating are calculated? I'm just trying to argue, it's just that other things have shifted so I don't believe that we can fully trust the old information that we had.
