That's all about rng.
With any airship comp sometimes I obtain tons of materias (and items) or nothing.
2 last times on sector 13 (and 17 I think): first time 0 materia and some cristals/useless items, second time ~20 materias and a lot of valuable items.

btw I never get any mote.
