Very unlucky, we've finally unlocked the sector 8, while our airship was rank 26 and equipped with invincible parts for many visits around the sector 7 (and 6 and 5).
Tired of waiting, we've sent our airship to the sector 7 alone, and that's when we've finally been blessed by the new discovery.

Going to do the same with ours, also rank 26, and we've got 1-7 & 11. Just got back from a 6-7-5 and before that 5-6-7, so might as well do the solo 7.

Following up, a solo voyage to Sector 7 discovered 8 for us when previous combos like 5-6-7 and and 6-7-5 didn't. Also the log said sector 10, but then the map and chat message was 08.

Sending a solo voyage to 08 now, but we've already visited every other 1* so it won't prove or disprove the visit all 1*s to unlock thought.
