There seem to be three weather conditions that we've encountered so far:
- Turbulence which results in "significantly hindered" exploratory capacity
- Winds which result in "slightly hindered"
- Calm weather (like you had)
My theory is that it influences whether you will find a 2nd item node or not. Still not sure what it means by "2 surveillance levels", I wonder if we will see that change as time goes on! People have speculated that favor might have something to do with the weather conditions you encounter. Maybe its not a coincidence that you are seeing this for the first time after upgrading forecastle? (+14 Favor)
Well that is pretty good support for surveillance being important for discovering sectors! \o/
I think there must be some RNG to this, we had steady C's until we upgraded our Aftcastle and then we had steady A's. That lead me to believe aftcastle was fairly important for higher ratings. This could be a fluke but then again so might our results.
I did a round of speed testing that looks very similar to your results. I came to the conclusion that an upgraded rigging and back-to-back trips would result in about 10-15% higher rate of exp, items, and rank-ups.
I think I solved the sector discovery reporting discrepancy XD Today we discovered sector 9, and it told us about the discovery both in the flight log and after we finalized the report. I'm wondering if this is typical behavior, and there might be a bug for sector 8.
Remember previously, I said that we discovered sector 8 and it did not show up in our report, but sector 10 DID show up in our report. I actually went to look at the sector map today... and we have no sector 10! I'm thinking when it reported that we found sector 10 in our flight log it was actually intended to be the message that should report sector 8.
If you still have your flight log from when you discovered sector 8, could you look and see if it mentions discovering sector 10 instead?
Awesome! I'll add it to the list! \o/ Did you find out what it is used for?
