Just another data point on unlocking sectors. Rank 18->19, visiting 5, 6, 4 (3? the one on the left), unlocked sector 11 (after exploring 6, IIRC, but that notice doesn't show up in the log now that I've finalized it once). Have not unlocked sectors 7 or 8 yet. Enterprise Forecastle, all other parts Invincible.

Leveled up today from 20 to 23. We unlocked Airship 2 and Sector 11 at the same time.

Last voyage was Sector 7,8,6,3. Components on last voyage was Enterprise Hull, Bronco Sail, Bronco Forecastle, Enterprise Aftcastle.

Have you been using a bronco forecastle the entire time? With an Enterprise aftcastle you must have 62 Surveillance. We are trying to figure out if surveillance is important for unlocking sectors or if it is something else like a flight path. Any ideas?

I actually have an FC on an alt character that I was thinking of using for the sake of experimentation. I'd like to see how far it can get without improving surveillance at all.

R20-22 today, unlocked S8 after going S6 > S7.

Seems to make sense? that the sectors unlock based on proximity.
Bronco hull + aftcastle, enterprise bladder + forecastle fwiw.

That was our path when it unlocked as well, I also think the proximity theory is starting to hold water. Keep those reports coming in!

Just curious, does it say anywhere in your flight log that sector 8 was unlocked? For us, previous sectors showed up in the flight log when they were unlocked but not sector 8. Not sure if that has any significance at all.

I didn't see any mention of discovering a new zone in the flight report, no. I already sent it back out so I can't double check that though.

Im wondering if perhaps sector 8 is unlocked after completing your first new voyage after hitting rank 20.

It's a huge puzzle XD The sector discovery question is a tad convoluted at the moment, with some sectors unlocking through voyages which appears in the flight log, and this case where sector 8 is unlocked after finalizing the report.

I nearly have all the bronco parts ready to go in my alt FC, my plan is to not upgrade any parts and see how far I can get on just bronco. If surveillance or another stat is important I will eventually hit a wall. On the other hand, if it just starts to get slow because I haven't upgraded anything that will let me rank up faster, but sectors are still being gradually unlocked, it would seem to disconfirm the idea that surveillance is important. Thinking about it a bit, seems a bit odd to not have some stat involved in finding sectors. Without that,wouldn't it be possible to fully explore without upgrading any parts? I suppose you would eventually be limited by your range.

It makes it a tad tricky that forecastle upgrades both surveillance and favor, it might be that favor is important and surveillance is a confounding factor. If I do hit a wall, Maybe I'll upgrade my Aftcastle to Enterprise before I add an invincible forecastle so that I can reduce surveillance by 12, to test favor independently.

Edit: And after reading that I realize I've left the realm of what a sane person would do to figure out a question about stats in a game But who needs sanity when you have SCIENCE!!!! \o/

I've been a bit slacking on taking note of the amount of component points available for each rank. I think it would be a great addition to your guide. I dont even recall if it was a linear increase or not. xD
