You guys and this thread and the wealth of information therein are all amazing.
Very nicely demonstrated XD Although it may not follow in a logical sense, the higher weight of the final sector might just be a programming shortcut (or even a bug). The voyage rating as a whole doesn't actually seem to be that important, it is the sector ratings that influence exp gains. Maybe this is why they didn't feel the need to make the algorithm as logical as it could be.
Slightly unrelated:
I hadn't mentioned it before but the "low" retrieval ratings are actually something that were added after launch. For the couple months, up until that patch, the lowest you could get was "normal." I saw you mention it before, that you believed you had just missed it, but it actually wasn't there to begin with. All the data gathered before the change will be a tiny bit skewed.
Good point!Another possible reason that the final sector rating may have a higher correlation might be if we consider the method of "diminishing ship resources" being used throughout the voyage to be true. If a ship has enough "resources" left over to do well on that last sector then it'd have a positive correlating effect on the overall rating.
Thank you! I always look forward to checking this thread to see what new things people have discovered \o/

I guess it could be that. Admitedly seeing an 'A' or 'S' rating does make the report look a little more interesting. It is a shame if it isnt actually tied to how well the ship did tho.Very nicely demonstrated XD Although it may not follow in a logical sense, the higher weight of the final sector might just be a programming shortcut (or even a bug). Finally got lucky again lol, found sector 20 as well
My brain is still stuck on that whole letter grade thing. I have this silly theory about why the letter grades are based so strongly on the final sector visited - what if the game gives you a letter grade for each sector which relates only to that one sector, but it only shows you the last one? Like, it keeps overwriting it, because either they meant to display all of them and never coded a way to do that, or there was a miscommunication between the UI designers and the programmers, or the UI was originally going to be different and include a spot for each sector to have a rating? When you think about it, no sector appears to be related in any way to any of the others. All seem to be handled independently. Your retrieval/rating/etc in one sector appears to have no bearing on subsequent sectors. So, why should the grades be any different?

not sure if this is mentioned anywhere, but i've been struggling on discovering sectors 4-5 with a rank 10 airship,i've been sending it to sector 2 exclusively and i've not unlocked anything,am i doing anything wrong or is it just rngesus striking again
I've been wondering myself if those letter grades were only meant to be a cosmetic thing and not actually have any effect on the airship whatsoever, at least that's what it feels like at this point. My brain is still stuck on that whole letter grade thing. purely RNG. You could try upgrading your forecastle to help with this?
Hey anybody have a bis list for airships and what they bis is for such as bis for exploring and what not?
IIRC the most space any one piece takes up is 26 Airframe Capacity. Your ships cap out at 61, emphasize the stats you want.
That said, we don't fully understand most of the stats, so ...
