The Akira Toriyama vibes are strong with this... very nice.

Keiji Inafune and Akira Toriyama are my inspirations! As for what it is about I'll post the back story leading up to the time the novel is set in

Hundreds of years ago a war of massive proportions broke out between the beautiful, lush land of Geona and the mountainous Teragin-Rift. Geona was a peaceful country which had a prosperous economy based off trade and commerce. Teragin-Rift lay far to the south of Geona and was harboured by countless mountain peaks. This land in the south was the world's strongest military power at the time. The Emperor of Teragin-Rift was once a man of noble and honorable stature whom the people loved, but this changed when a hooded figure became his advisor. With time and age the mind of the Emperor began to decay and twist from what many said to be the product of the hooded entity's dark influence. Needless to say, the Emperor eventually declared war on Geona and was hell bent on obtaining something the hooded advisor referred to as the 'Epita'.

The mighty Emperor's army of Teragin-Rift would not take Geona without a struggle. Although the military strength in sheer numbers was very obvious between the two nations, Geona had many capable and valiant defenders with one young man coming to mind especially. Destin, from the town of Lindo which lay in the center of Geona, came to create one of the 3 Companies of Valor. These Companies held the mightiest and bravest heroes from across the world who came to aid Geona in their defensive struggle against the now tyrant Emperor of the Rift. Destin used to be a member of Geona's small military. This valiant man also had a companion, a falcon which fought alongside him in many battles. No one knows where this creature came from and why it assisted Destin. He rose to the rank of knight fending off monsters and bandits that scoured the outskirts of Geonian towns for many years. Eventually he left the military to pursue his dreams of travelling the world and finding many adventures.

When the Emperor attacked Geona, word quickly spread around the world of this monstrous and unprovoked act. Destin heard of this and came back to defend his homeland. He brought with him many soldiers, his finest and most trustworthy companions which comprised the 1st of the soon to be three Companies of Valor. But this is not all that Destin brought... During his adventures he came across a relic which held the name of Gaia Blocks. This relic was rumored to be a gift from a Goddess not of this world to defend against an evil 'Harbinger of Darkness' whom has found this world and moved to consume it in a fiery hell. Rumors had it that the advisor of the now twisted Emperor was such a being. Destin used the powers bestowed to him by the relic to turn the tide of the war and give hope to the Geonian people.

The war struggled on and seemed endless, countless soldiers on both sides were lost to the mindless violence. Nearing the end of the war, the Geonian forces, through the combined efforts of many brave warriors from around world, broke through the strongholds of Teragin-Rift and attacked the Emperor's fortress. Destin was wounded in a skirmish which took place because his best friend betrayed him and told the enemy where he would be attacking the Emperor's fortress from. As the day turned to night Destin and his men defeated the mighty armies of the Emperor and seized his Empire. Destin found the Emperor on his throne as he and what was left of his Company of Valor entered what was known as The Hall of Kings. The Emperor sat there with a smug grin on his face, his hair now grey, his eyes weary and not of this world, and his skin pale as snow. The Emperor stood, which seemed a feat in itself given his current state, and drew his gigantic axe from the side of his throne. As he pointed the weapon at Dustin, who told his men to stand down and that he would handle this, the Emperor had a very sad and empathetic look in his eyes as he murmured, "It... is not my fault forgive me..." The two exchanged blows with Destin ending the life of the man who is now known as the Tyrant of the mountains.

After the battle Destin stood atop the balcony of the Emperor's room and he gazed upon the moonlight reflecting all over the mountainous terrain of Teragin-Rift's beautiful and complex geography. "It is such a shame...", Destin said under his breath. Just then he heard a shriek and as he turned a dark figure, with a torn cape and hood jumped from the rooftop unto Destin on the balcony. As Destin stood from the ground composing himself he grunted as there was blood dripping from his torso. Destin engaged his Gaia Blocks and began to battle the hooded figure. The mysterious being fought like no other, morphing into strange shapes and striking with monstrous power. Destin's strength was leaving him and his relic was beginning to falter due to his lack of energy which it ran on. As the hooded figure was ready to deal the final blow and strike Destin off the balcony, a mighty screech echoed throughout the night. The great Falcon struck the hooded figure just as he was ready to attack, throwing him off balance. Destin saw his opportunity as he searched deep within himself to find his last bit of strength and once he found it he used all the power of his relic to banish the creature from this world. The hooded figure roared and cursed at the blow Destin dealt as he broke through the balcony's ledge and fell to the ground. The heroic Destin fell to his knees and coughed blood from the injury sustained by the surprise attack. His relic suddenly vanished from him as his energy escaped him. Just before he fell to the ground he patted his trusty companion of many years and smiled.

Destin is now known as the Valiant Defender of Geona and the creator of the 1st Company of Valor. No one knows what the relic he had was nor do they know why it was given to him, only rumors linger. The 'Epita' was never found and no one except the fallen Emperor and the mysterious advisor knew what it was. Destin's men were never able to find the body of the hooded figure which fell from the balcony...

This is the world of Gaia Blocks.

Ulti, the main protagonist, stumbles upon the relic and the story begins for him
