Adjust City of Choice Influence

I started playing FFXIV with the launch last September. At that time there was absolutely no infomation from SE concerning the impact of choices you made when setting up your character. So when I set my character up I chose Limsa as my home city because I wanted to concentrate on Mrd, Bsm and Arm to start. Come to find out that this choice determined many factors relating to developement.

1. Guild Marks are primarily rewarded for levee quest from your home city. Gil primarily from the other cities.

2. Quality and quantity of local and field levees are better from your home city. I get a better variety of Weaver and Goldsmith quests in Limsa then I do in Ul'dah. I have yet to see a Rank 40 Arm levee quests in Ul'dah. <Rank 42 Arm>.

As such it has been my routine to get any non Bsm or Arm quests in Limsa, take the ferry and go to Ul'Dah for the neccessary guild support and return to Limsa to complete these quests and do my Reagional quest. This is a tiring and time consuming process. So, in order to be able to spend more time parked in Ul'dah seeking end-game parties I will have to severely limit my personnal questing. As it is I will not be able to get my own chicken when the patch comes out this week unless they plan to add a lot of solo quests for the Grand Companies.

What I am asking for SE is that you either provide us with the option to change our city affiliation or at the very least minimized the effects that city selection has on our actions.

Well it does make sense for the homes of the guilds to have more pertaining to those guilds. You'll be able to get your chocobo just fine as well:

*All grand company quests can be done with members of other grand companies. You'll even be rewarded for doing so according to one of the dev. reps.

* There will be lots of other ways to get seals and rank up within the company (you have to do so before getting the chocobo license anyway). From the new company quests and missions implemented, to the caravan escorts, and whatever else they have planned in the near future.

Besides, i'm sure you've partied with different company members for Toto-rak or the Darkhold. The only thing restricted is caravan escort. All other normal grand company quests, you'll be able to party with whoever you want, and as many as you want...as long as it's within the max members allowed.

No worries, there will be plenty of things to do with members of other companies, and they wont be restricted.

Since Yoshi likes Assasins Creed so much he should add something in the cities and surrounding areas that could be influenced like in that game. Meaning players could do quests and donate gil/materials to fix up parts of the city or build new things in the cities and outside. Stuff like monuments and aqueducts. Would be atleast something we havent seen in MMO yet.

They changed the rewards of levequests in 1.18 to be greater in Limsa Lominsa and Gridania as an effort to get people out of Ul'dah, I'm guessing. That may be why you're seeing these differences in rewards, not because Limsa Lominsa is your home city-state.

That and didnt they change the leves so that you get guildmarks and rewards/specific leves for whatever citystate that guild called home? I.E. Marauder marks only from Limsa based leves, Gladiator marks only from Ul'dah based leves, or Blacksmith jobs only around Limsa?

On a related note, whats with the 3 different factions that seem to run things throughout the whole of Eorzea? They have a conquest style 1st,2nd, and 3rd place rank of influence for certain areas, but what are the benefits?

You get 6 anima a day, 9 every GL reset. Set your hp in Uldah. Get your levee done. Then return. Don't use more than 6 more anIma before next reset.

The only city selection effect is the main storyline rank 1-15.

You get guild marks from the city with the guild.
If you need marauder guild mark, make leves in Limsa. If you need conjurer guild mark, make leves in Gridania.
