Can we have this added to the scrip exchange npcs as well? Same issue. You got 2000 scrips and a item you need to trade for that is 50. That's a lot of needless clicking.
Because I don't want to make a new thread....can we also please have a Summoning Bell near Gerolt's place in Fallgourd? I'm tired of having to go to another place jsut to summon my retainer to get something to turn in. ._.
The most efficient solution (indeed, what just about EVERY other MMO in existence has done), is use a key binding to open up a "stack" window. Shift + click, or alt + click, whatever + click. separate window opens for item in question with a field you can adjust at your leisure, and buy the whole stack at once.
This is one of those game mechanic designs in FFXIV that just leaves me scratching my head. soooo clunky! even with the vendor windows, they have separate fields for EVERY ITEM in the game...talk about wasted programing and bandwidth! compare that to a single separate window that simply takes your entry, and forwards that the the NPC as a bulk purchase. But no, we have individual fields for every item on most NPCs (except those mentioned here.)
The funny thing is though, that when you open up the window to sell things on the market (on your retainer), the solution is right there! they already have it IN GAME. again...speechless. makes no sense the way it currently is. I really think that the devs should be forced to play this game the way we play it, perhaps after 400 or so click themselves, they'll wonder why they didn't put that into the game!
In their defense...many of the items that do not have a bulk purchase field seem to be originally designed to be purchased in very small amounts (as an example, coke.) but with the game changing, and prices changing, and the necessity to purchase VAST quantities of these items...time for a design change. There's a reason people don't hand crank their cars anymore (in spite of its simplicity and efficient design). There's a reason that Other advanced MMO's out there don't force you to individually click items...the days of 8 bit graphics and clunky systems are behind us Devs...just sayin...

I couldn't agree more with this kind of change. Buying Cordials/Ventures/Coke is definitely a clunky mess (Took me 5 minutes to buy 163 coke .-.). I feel as though a complete overhaul of how the NPC merchants work would be in order, as we can't do, for example, shift-click to bring up "How many would you like of X?" Then you select from 1-99. This method can also help make working with different merchants more consistent (This kind of thing wouldn't apply to non-stackable or unique items, for very self-explainable reasons). I can't say how PS3/4 does their interactions with merchants, so that's beyond me right now.
Honestly I don't even know why they made them cost 50 each and require 99 of them when it's the only item you can buy anyway.
Why could they just not have made them cost 495 each and require 10? Obviously just letting you buy more than one at a time would be better
but how it has been done now just makes no sense to me.
