    Summoning via Battle Regimen

The opening video sequence of this game always made players dream of...if only that's how battle regimens worked in-game.

While SE stews up the next iteration of battle regimens how about I throw this idea out...the battle regimen of summoning?

I liken it to this approach: It's starts with the regimen of Summoning which places either marks one target or multiple targets in zone...depends on how big of a zone was activated. The range of said summon is affected by the number of players who take part in the ritual of summoning ie Range 1-8. Next...the regimen of elements...which players may each contribute to the firepower of the summoned beast. Different combinations will call forth different summons...as well as the strength of said summon.

I see the spell create beautiful grids patterns on the ground connecting casters and then an amazing summon come forth.

Note: A side idea is if the summon isn't just a 1 cast spell...ie we want to make the summon controllable, my idea would be the battle regimen will randomly kill 1 player that took part in the summoning process and give that player full control of the summons with a special action bar for x period of time.

A buddy mentioned what stops us from casting this all repeatedly? How about a party limit meter gauge. Summons only able to be cast when the gauge is full and it'll exhaust once the summon unleashes and require the gauge to fill up again before next cast.

Actually, this is an incredibly original idea, and would bring back Battle Regimens as a viable combat mechanism...

I am impressed, good sir. It needs more polishing, however.

Yeah I know it needs more polishing...I was trying to figure out how it would be done with single player or small parties. There was talk of SE doing solo skill chains when they reintroduce battle regimens from their hiatus. I thought I'd start the pot stirring for others to flesh it out more.

    well, I have post it

    my post

how about making next battle regimen as one of the way to summon? basic summon must involves 4 different class with using a specific WS to summon, and the skill will have cooldown depends on Primal that it try to summon(min 5 minutes)?

but another user rejected it, he wants his SMN job /lol

Okay okay...I know everyone wants a summoner class. Well this is easily solved by a lesser summons and grand summons. Grand summons via Battle Regimen...lesser summons via summoner class.

erm, I think people want grand summons via SMN class... either is fine with me, as long as we can do something epic with BR

    Fantastic concept.

Normal/Lesser summons: Pet style, see FFXI.

Grand summons: Require a unique battle regimen and a SMN to execute the final attack. (instanced summon attack ftw)

    I really like this idea.

I was thinking about this very idea the other day. It would be cool to have the ability to summon primals from a battle regiment, as well as other notorious FF "super spells" like Meteor, Holy and Ultima. Certain combinations of queued abilities/spells would dictate which primal or super spell would be summoned.

In the case of a Primal, it would appear in its classic way (no CS though), charge up and unleash its main attack and then vanish. This way we could still have a summoner class, and then just put the restriction in that a primal cant be summoned if it's being used by the summoner (can't have 2 Bahamats on the battle field at the same time). While the summoned BR primal will only use its main attack, the summoner's primal will have more tools/attacks to use.

Something like this would make battle regiments fun and nostalgic.

Edit: Actually, I like Zantetsuken's idea of having a Summoner finalize the BR Primal Grand Summons, that makes a lot of sense and gives Summoners the ability to have a Grand Summons

doesnt just have to be summons that can be done with way, certain spells could be activated this way too. lets face it, the conjurer flare ect is kinda lame, if it was activated as a BR spell and each person taking part increased a base damage my 10% 15% it could be quite dramatic with the right animation to back it up.

your idea has ALOT of potential. even melee attacks from BR.

imagine you have a party made up of 1 glad, 2 mrd, 3 pug, 2 mages, all the melee enter into a BR and a certain combination activates something like omnislash where each character taking part rushes to the target unleashes a hugely devestating blow and runs out past the other side.

so much potential with your idea i love it
