"Luck of the Mountaineer"?

So, I've tried using Luck of the Mountaineer on various level 55/60 nodes at HQ chain #2 and higher and whenever I try I always get the message "Cannot use yet." Is this a message that displays when you try to use the skill and there are no hidden items?

Guess I want to know... has anyone else had any luck using it? Maybe it's only for use on Ephemeral/Unspoiled nodes? Inquiring minds want to know.

That hq #2 chain is so hard to come by, but it if you get lucky i can tell that so far on all the nodes i used it, all i got was lvl 5 dark materia, and it works on ALL nodes from lvl 1 to lvl 60. So far i got lvl5 dark matter sapwn right from the begining only once on some regular node, that is very very rare to spawn on its own, prolly too rare to even consider fishing for it on pure luck.

Remember, HQ Chain #2 is actually three HQ's in a row, not two. That might be what is confusing you.

I've only had it usable twice, since as Espritduo mentioned you have to get THREE HQs in a row to proc it and that can be rather difficult.

Once was while mining in the level 55 mining area in Smoldering Wastes. The only hidden node that appeared for me contained a Timeworn Archaeoskin Map.

The other time was in the level 55 botany area in Churning Mists. The hidden node revealed was previously ungathered and I was unfortunately left with only 1 swing @ 40% chance and was unable to gather it, but I believe it was Grade 5 Carbonized Matter.

I've used it three times. Here were my results:

1) "You've already uncovered the hidden item" (think this was on a node where Hardsilver Ore was present)
2) Timeworn Dragonskin Map
3) Grade 5 Carbonized Matter

You know, I was wondering what the heck this skill was used for since Toil pretty much does the job of uncovering nodes, now I know! =D

Thanks for the responses, everyone! That's probably my problem, assuming that two HQs in a row was a #2 chain. Three seems... a rather excessive requirement for only items that can be harvested otherwise and Grade 5 matter.
