Commendation performance?

When my wife plays as a Healer I notice she get more Commendation, When things go wrong and she pull us out of it.

When everything nothing is going wrong. That means DPS are all doing there jobs. The other healer is doing there job. and finally the tanks are doing there jobs. So keeping everyone alive is just that.

Now when a Tank dies. Or DPS are Dieing... Then.. The healers need to step up get people alive.

I have in the past got commendations from people for saving the group from a complete wipe or for being very playful with people in the party

A word to the OP

"Just doing your job" in my book will net you a 1 in 3 or 1 in 7 chance of getting a commendation from me.

What would improves your chances in my book are:-

- having a nice sexy glamor on. (Bunny and Thavnairian Bustier set are your best bets atm)
- being a target of my playfulness.
(Lalafell, Roegadyn and male characters will not qualify for the above 2 points)
-helping me prevent a party wipe
-letting me be trigger happy with Fire IV and Blizzard IV (sadly this rules out SR pulls)

This is how I decide my commendations:

1. Have I popped my challenge? If yes, go to 5. If no, go to 2.
2. Will this pop my challenge? If yes, go to 3. If no, go to 5.
3. Am I a class that will benefit from the bonus? If yes, go to 4. If no, stop.
4. Is there another class that I would rather get the bonus? If yes, stop. If no go to 5.
5. Is anyone still in the dungeon? If yes, go to 6. If no, stop.
6. Did anyone positively stand out in a social manner? If yes, commend. If no, go to 7.
7. Did anyone positively stand out in a gameplay manner? If yes, commend. If no, go to 8.
8. Was anyone new? If yes, commend. If no, go to 9.
9. Did anyone have an amusing/interesting name or glamour? If yes, commend. If no, stop.

While I wish there was a system that allowed us to give a more in depth review on a person's performance by role or job, I know it'd never happen due to ease of abuse and general apathy.

As for me, while I typically grade on performance, that's only if the party I land in is silent for most of the dungeon. If I land in a more talkative group and someone has a funny sense of humor to me, that person is likely to get my commend instead.

Expecting commends should never be a thing. I'll admit that with all the commend I usually got (up to and beyond getting my Parade Chocobo), it's kinda odd to me when I leave with no commends. But do I go around complaining about it? Nope. Aside from already having all the commend rewards, I just don't see any reason to be upset about not getting any.

Fun Fact 1: I only walked away with one commend today out of the Duty Roulettes I did so far, and I Tanked and Healed all of them today, and all said runs were smooth. (Ensured aggro, kept everyone going, etc)

Fun Fact 2: I seem to get more commends tossed my way when my Miqo'te lady is glamored in skimpy gear instead of badass armor. But... but I LIKE the armor I chose for my Miqo'te as a Tank! D:

I healed Ravana yesterday. Got 6 commendations. But sometimes I work hard and get 0.

Sometimes people leave immediately after the duty is complete without commending anyone. If you stick around until you are one of the last 2 people you almost always get a commendation just because you are the only option.

Tanks mostly get commendations despite being one of the easiest classes to play according to what my tank friends say, I haven't played one myself so can only go by what they told me. However what I can say with certainty there is a knee jerk reaction to throw commendations onto them in general by quite a lot of players even if they just perform average and not above and beyond the rest of the group. Because there are no in game parsers, DPS also get ignored because people cannot see they did their jobs very well. Healers tend to be second highest commendation rate.

It is nice when get a commendation as a DPS but it feels like you have to perform to a much higher standard in order to earn them compared to tanks and healers which is somewhat annoying as a DPS. All the people I know who want to specifically earn and grind commendations tend to switch to their tank class every time because of that knee jerk reaction to throw commendations their way by players. If they do not have a tank class they will switch to healers to grind the commendations as they know both tanks and healers get them far more so than DPS even if they did not really deserve them more than the DPS in the group.

OP did great in that run, If I were the tank in that I would have given you the commendation. However dont always expect commendations. Some people leave instances without giving them.
