Commendation performance?

Do commendations affect us in any way? What exactly are they for?

They're part of achievements, just the same as "do X number of fates" or "kill X number of mobs".
At 10/50/100/300/500/1500/3000 commendations, to be precise. Some give titles, some give item rewards to claim from Jonathas. Just check the Achievement log =)

Mmmmm thanks for the answers on that. Also noxifer if you didn't know all you have to do is examine someone and in the bottom right hand corner it will say online ID and a name that is what I've found for anyone ona console including myself. ^^

Ie: the person is on a ps3 or ps4.

I'm a PS4 player and I talk more often than about 90% of the PC players I see. Including using full sentences where they just use abbreviations. The trick is to not talk during the fights, but type in between fights, or as they're ending when you have a free moment. If you have to, you can select another player and choose to "follow" while you type so you don't get left behind. I do on rare occasion stop to type something mid fight if it's important to the fight itself, (or if it's an incredibly lame joke I have to get out based on something someone else said). Still, I have a pretty high WPM typing rate compared to a lot of people, so maybe I can just get away with it easier than most?

Commendations aren't RNG O.o.

The chance of you getting a commendation isn't generated by numbers. It's 100% player choice driven, no luck involved.
