Commendation performance?

For my commendation, you need one of these:
Be a Roe
Greet to the team in the begging. Most importantly, thanks everyone in the end.
A brd who actually sing...

Above things are so rare that you really need to reward these PPL.

Lol. I see Roes constantly and everyone greets in all the dungeon runs I do, (though this could be a chain reaction effect to me greeting them first). Most people also say thanks for the run after it's over unless we just had a bad group. As for the BRD part, I'm a MCH that uses my turret's support mode if MP drops low or if some says they need TP. Does that count?

Weird, as a healer in most dungeons and bosses I get at least one commendation. But if I didn't, I don't worry about it since either some people don't pay mind to the commendation system or just want to leave quickly. Or I just flat-out made some booboos.

Commendations are not for performance, they are for whatever criteria the person commending wants to hand it out for.

You know so far I've read allot of people give comms to people if they are friendly and talkative. .. just curious on this part. . What if some people don't talk in the game due to how annoying/hard it can be to type sometimes. Ie: the person is on a ps3 or ps4. I myself don't talk a lot during the dungeons due to that reason it self. For me to type it requires me to set down my controller then pick up my keyboard type out what I want to say put down/or tol toss down the key board (depending on if I need to heal or not and how lazy I'm feeling). Don't get me wrong I'm not going to complain about getting or not getting commendations but wondering if that would affect your view in that person

Well I always try to give out my commendation to the person I thought was nicest, if somebody stands out in that way it's the only thing that matters to me, but in the case where nobody speaks I will usually still find somebody to give it to.

Whether at that point I commend somebody for their performance, or their glamour, or even just to cheer them up and give them some encouragement after a rare and embarrassing mistake depends on how I feel at the time.

The only time I would let my commendation go to waste is if somebody is an outright asshole and they're the only option for the commendation.

I'm the same, at the end of the day if you talk a lot and are friendly, or joke around then it goes to you. I'm on PS4, it's not hard playing with a keyboard, I keep it in my lap and type between pulls etc. No one is expecting novels here. My friend on PS3 refuses to get one, but I'm like I don't care how good you are, I'm not giving a commendation to someone that hasn't said a single word even if you were amazing.

Personally, I have to admit that I do notice the people talking during the run more, but I know lack of keyboard can be an issue. I've noticed some people saying hello at the start and some statement to the "ps3/4 player without keyboard" situation (whether it's a macro or they have a keyboard nearby for non-combat times, I don't know). Others say nothing, but use emotes instead.

To be honest, the first thing I check when someone doesn't say 'hello' is the party list to see if they play with German or French client, since language barriers can be a reason for staying silent (especially if the others have said their nice-to-meet-yous in obvious English). My second guess after that would be console player, of course. (Sadly, I'm sometimes proven wrong with that when said silent player suddenly starts to rage after a wipe or near-wipe...)

Does it affect my giving of commendations? Probably. Like I said, I notice the friendly and talkative players more. On the other hand, silent players that do "appropriate" emotes (e.g. /clap instead of "grats!" or /bow, /salute, /wave or similar at the end) tend to count a lot higher on the "friendly" scale for me than people just going through the usual "hello, ty for the run" platitudes, since my assumption is that they are console players doing the best they can in that respect. Especially since I know they've probably sacrificed hotbar slots for quick access to those emotes :p

Do commendations affect us in any way? What exactly are they for? Are they going to become currency at some point? Or do they affect the rate at which you get into dungeons (IE people with higher commendations are selected via Duty Roulette over people with lower commendations)? Should I be worried if I don't get any commendations? Am I a jerk for leaving a duty when it's over, having not said anything along the lines of "Thanks" or "See you again!"? Am I a bad person for not commending anybody? Why are Roegadyn women so rare? And most importantly, what is the point of commendations?

These are just some questions I've had along the way, from the time of my humble beginning to my not-so-humble now.

I usually only get one commendation if any as healer even if i saved the group from wipe in an instance that seemed hopeless to recover from.

But when i use my macro to alert everyone that i pulled hate on some mobs from the tank (happens too often on astrologian even without overhealing, never had this issue leveling WHM 50-60) i usually get 2 or all 3. Shoutouts to tanks who forget to maintain enmity on more than 1 enemy.
