I've gotten commendations as a healer when i'm playing another game and letting people die and i end the dungeon thinking "wtf did i do to get this commendations"
And then there are times that i play godly and save the day and all and get non and say "Awwww come on!" in RL in a peter griffin way, then sigh and continue playing.

Perhaps someone else had a cooler nick. Sport a cooler glamour. Or it could be a lot of other factors which well.. it's impossible to pin point all of em right?

commendations are like gifts , nice to receive , but dont expect one every day!
as a tank i always give it to the healer when clearing the instance
dps distribute their comm with each other i might get lucky and get 1 from them
depends on the impression u leave
more communication with party member seem to increase your chances of getting one or 2

I do my best every run, but I don't expect commendations. Personally I give them not only to good performers but also to people who I enjoy to play with. If yourself were healing a run I was in, but say a BRD in party also did their job well, but also was chatty, funny and made the run memorable, I'd give them the commendation over you. Some people just don't commend at all, too much hassle to click lol. Don't take it personally!
~Quit moping, get hoping~

I have 100% commendation rate know matter what role I play. I always get at least 1. Most of the time people don't give any. There is 56k bonus exp you get after giving so many so I will always commend someone it's usually the person still there. if I want to commend a certain person it has to priority because most people exit to fast if they're not waiting for loot drops.

I remember times when i got commendations simply for dying alot xD , i call them pitty commendations xD

If you are playing a healer and get ZERO, every time, you are doing something wrong.
If you are playing a tank and get ZERO, every time, you are doing something wrong.
If you are playing a DPS and get ZERO, every time, you are playing a DPS, don't expect them.
When playing Healer, you will generally reward the Tank, because that's who you're paying attention to. If the tank sucks, or the run is just going awful, you'd probably reward nobody.
When playing a DPS, you are better off rewarding whoever made the run smoother. This will usually be the Healer (since they can rein in the pace that which the Tank pulls things), but there are just as many awful healers as there are awful tanks.
And DPS are generally "awful in general" and you have to be playing your Role (eg BRD's have songs, use them) to get a commendation out of it.
As a healer, I'll usually award the Tank unless the Tank makes the party wipe, or the Tank exits the instance before I get a chance to.
8-person parties are harder determine if anyone deserves it, as a healer your eyes are on the HP bars, and only magic casts show up there, so we have really no idea what the DPS is doing.

I wouldn't be bothered about not getting one if I'd never been on the forums and seen people saying 'My good man, I only give a commendation when someone has played truly exceptionally. I do not believe that you are deserving of my commendation just for doing your job. Hurf blurf I've never kissed a girl.'
So now when I don't get one (because tank commends healer, healer commends tank, dps commend each other) I'm always suspicious that I got that self-aggrandizing muppet.
Seriously, they cost nothing to give. Unless the run was a total mess with everyone screaming like idiots I always give it to someone.
