Fishing level 50-60

Hello, I have never posted on the forums before but, I was wondering what you were supposed to do regarding leveling wise for fisherman 50 to 60. Any Help at all will be appreciated. Also I am not to entirely sure if it is a grind fest for most of it or certain spots you're supposed to be fishing at for certain levels if it is a grind. Thank you again.

pretty much collectibles for leveling.. find a decent spot to fish in that has time windows for collectibles aswell... unfrozen pond in western coethas is pretty good place to get started.. collectibles in 3.0 more or less made leves obsolete for crafting/gathering leveling

collectibles need a certain rating for turn ins tho n normally per fish u can get 130k+ at higher levels makes levling a breeze n not to hard to catch :P just remember need collectors glove active XD

There are also Leve quests in Ishgarde. Might have to unlock them by progressing the MSQ to a certain point.

I have Forager gear except for the hat which is not max melded and only the blue rod you get from the lvl 50 quest and can still catch the fish needed for the lvl 50 leve quests, so your gathering and perception does not need to be all that great.

I had the level 50 fisher-specific gear, somewhat melded but nowhere near max, and the base blue fishing rod (damn those silver sovereigns D: ) and while I upgraded my boots/hat at 51, rings and rod at 52, that gear took me quite a bit. Mostly I was deficient in GP, though, having focused on i70 combat accessories melded with gathering and perception, so once I got above the requirement to actually use the HQ+ skill, it got a lot easier.

I started out in the cloudfishing area in western coerthas until I was 52 or so (used some leves, mostly just to try them out), then gradually moved on to other places. Collectibles give really nice exp, and once you find where to get them they're fairly easy to get. Not always easy to get a score you can use, of course (the HQ+ skill helps a LOT with that bit), since it's dependent on fish size.

Once you hit 56, you can start getting scrips for your collectibles, and save up for the level 58 scrip gear =D
In general, I've never needed to go back to leves; when you get 10k exp for a normal quality fish, and 30-35k exp for a hq one (including food and rested bonus), it goes faster than you'd think ^^; Of course, the collectibles giving 100k+ and the job quests giving up to 490k isn't too shabby either ^^

Never really found it to be that much of a grind. Time-consuming, yes, but more in the manner of "Wait, what? I've been fishing for how long? D: Impossible! I only just sat down!" :p But it's all a matter of how much you enjoy fishing in general.
(I think botany/mining is a frustratingly slow grind -- one of my FC mates is my polar opposite; she finds mining and botany relaxing, and fishing merely frustrating XD)

Just curious. What kind of gear were you wearing when you first farmed your scripts at 56?

I'm at 55 on my FSH wearing the iLv 100 crafted NQ and the melded iLv55 accessories that my MIN used to progress to the Lucis. I'm just wondering whether it'll be enough to make fishing for Lv 56 script turn-ins worth the time, or should I hold off and go for easier collectibles until 58 then start earning scripts.

i used 55 npc gear theres a place in forelands (smoulderin wastes) has a fish 10pm - 4am but i caught some at 930ish just pop patience skill generally caught 4-5 within the time frame i could exchange for scrips

I had replaced my fishing rod at that point, of course.... I think I used...
NQ Cedar fishing rod (i85)
NQ Rainbow hat (i80)
NQ Dhalmelskin vest (i100)
HQ Fisher's gloves (i55) - melded with Perception+4, Gathering+8
NQ Wyvernskin belt (i90)
HQ Ramie trousers of gathering (i100) -- might have gotten these later, though
HQ Archaeoskin jackboots of gathering (i65)

Some melded i70 combat accessories, plus unmelded HQ Wyvernskin rings due to lack of GP

So in total that should have been 366 gathering, 293 perception, 451 gp. If your stats are around that with your current gear, then you should be fine =)

I got enough scrips at the first possible handin to buy the gloves (even if I couldn't use them at that point), then with some later handins I got the shoes as well. Though I think that might have been the Noontide Oscar, which means I had to have been level 57 at that point.
As for getting from 59 to 60, I found that the Lv58 Weston bowfin just wouldn't bite for me, so I instead went to try the Lv59 Illuminati perch, and got three of them with high enough points in less than half an hour ^^;
