I don't think of myself as some game designer but I do believe there's a way they can keep vanilla content alive (with incentives) without unbalancing the end game.
People should not be required to look at guides to go play a dungeon. That's what makes them enjoyable, but FFXIV's design of fixed team setups and instant wiping people who do not follow the method runs counter to this and forces players along a set play style.
