I can the next job being Samurai whether they turn it into a dps or tank who knows? If anything there might be more concept art/ moveset being planned due to that one leaked image with a samurai folder in one of the live letters

Unfortunately, this is not proof of any sort. Yoshi explained that when they were developing the new tank, they two jobs that came down to the end were Dark Knight and Samurai. There was a lot of pre-production work done for both before the final decision was made. This was nothing more than work-in-progress assets for a job that was scrapped near the very end.

I'd say the most likely would be something similar to Dancer, Corsair, Samurai, or Mystic Knight.

What I would like the most is either Blue Mage or Beast Master :P

The current dilemma of red mage is how will it work effectively in the game as it is now while retaining its traditional identity within the Final Fantasy series.

Blue mage has that same identity problem too, but the fix would be a lot more easily approachable despite being at the expense of breaking tradition.

I care less about jobs being direct examples of old iterations. I'd prefer jobs that are related to FF even if they have to have their flavor changed a little to fit into the mmo playstyle. There's a reason that the jobs are vastly more popular than Conjurer/Thaumaturge/Marauder/etc.

Out of things in XI that aren't in XIV we have: Red mage, Thief, Beastmaster, Samurai, Bluemage, Corsair, Puppetmaster,Dancer, Geomancer, Runefencer.

Personally I'd like to see Rdm combined with runefencer as a mage-tank with enspells/spikes, maybe thf as a different interpretation of Rogue,
Samurai (maybe playing on their weapon chain role in XI - kinda like nin, different sets of WS lead to a different bonus), bluemage as a frontline mage, dancer as a tp-based healer.

I feel like beastmaster would have a tough time being worked in. I feel like corsair's gimmick has kind of been taken by Astrologian and all thats really left is an aesthetic.

New thought: Add dancer, require you be in full newly added thavnairan dancer gear to get quest. Use the tears to power the earth's energy needs.

First off I would love to see samurai but with that said, it will not happen in 3.0. Bring samurai to the game would bring a whole back story that SE would not blow just for one class. It will further bring closer to ninja story which I would see in a expac. Second Yoshi already stated same WILL be a DPS not a tank.

With HW they said DRK and SAM were both choices they had to choice which would go in game. The dev team looking back on previous FF titles, not just FFXI ,said sam in previous titles does not fit the tank role or the vibe of HW. It is a class planned for future release but nothing at the moment. Personally I woke up early last year when TGS was going on hoping SAM would be the secret class released but they went with dark and I died a little in side lol.

With the move into HW I would not be surprised if they added another class it not being a caster but at the same time I do not see them adding it. They will hold off til next year so players can get to a happy middle with the current classes and master them.

I think it would be pretty disappointing to see Samurai as a tank.. Can we please get a sword-wielding class for DPS?
