Being able to taxi between every other aether current without aggro is one good reason. The whole reason aether currents exist in the first place is to encourage players to go and explore. If you could just ferry people to every aether current in the zone, there's no danger, no challenge and it undermines the whole purpose to having them in the first place.

Yeah, and the code already exists in-game, you cannot use the wedding rings to teleport if one person has not unlocked flying in that specific zone, which was likely done to avoid these risks.

I personally believe they'll only make the Amber Draught Chocobo will be 2-sit flyable to get more people recruited into the game.

Well, it does say in one of their descriptions something along the lines of, "it can carry the burdens of you and your loved one". Apparently it just can't carry them Heavensward. XD

In all seriousness, they probably did it to keep people from cheating. One learns to fly and drives the other around to their quests and whatnot. I think they might make it similar to the wedding ring where you can't use it unless both people can fly/have mapped the whole zone.

be patient they're still making animations for more of the mounts to fly since it wasn't originally planned.
theres still a chance your ceremony choco will get to fly
