Why are bards / Mechanists so... Sensitive? <_<

Question, OP: Why should the people who are the butt of your joke have to make the effort to find out whether you're being serious or not, when YOU have the choice to simply not make the stupid comment in the first place? They're the ones who have to hear this nonsense all day long, not you. You're just adding fuel to the fire, so you should be the one accepting responsibility, not them.

Because weather or not they stay with the party is an inconsequential matter to me. If they choose to eat a 30 minute debuff timer + Que time because they decided to get their panties in a twist, well... That's unfortuante for them, but not really a thing that bothers me at all. They'll be replaced in sub-2minutes time with a DPS who doesn't bawl at the slightest poke.

Dude seriously? What is happening now to bards and machinists isn't "the slightest poke". They're being ridiculed, insulted, harassed and kicked from dungeons simply for being the job they are. And then you come in with your "joke" of "ew bard", which to the bard says "yes I am another one of those assholes who will insult and harass and probably kick you just for being a bard". Can't blame them for leaving and taking the penalty rather than having to deal with that.

eh, different humors for different folks in my book. XD I have friends that chuckle at it too. In my book, people are just too sensitive. I do appreciate a bit of the better understanding for that sensitivity, though, but I doubt I'll change my typing style. <_<

It bothers you so little that you have to continue your dickish behavior by making a forum post about it, further insisting how you're not the one at fault here and it's all on them. Right.

You know not everyone has the same mindset. I personally rarely play tank cus I fear disappointing people. If you make fun of people for no reason you have no idea how that is going to make the person feel, internet or not you would not appreciate people mocking you or making fun of you in every party you join. Sure you may just ignore it but not everyone is you.

Also to add, Bards are still quite helpful. Mages ballad in Bismark EX has been a life saver when dealing with new people during the transition to Phase 3.

Nothing personal, but I haven't read this thread, and I'm not entirely certain I'd endeavor to.

But to answer the core question here: Imagine you play a class, new or old, and you LIKE that class, but now for no reason of your own everyone points critical fingers at you and makes you a bad example and at worst, a scapegoat if/when things go wrong. Imagine you're already being refused entry into something that's not even open, based on entirely separate and incomparable reasons and examples, that may or may not directly apply to you. Imagine perhaps you JUST got the game today and wanted to try this job with no knowledge that you were walking into a firing line. . .

THAT is why they're sensitive. Discrimination. It's always been one of those sensitive things. When the fingers start pointing to you, how will YOU feel?

Sorry, but saying 'Eww, Bard' isn't something easily considered a joke. Jokes tend to have a punchline somewhere, or are at least delivered in a manner which labels them as jokes. If you'd have said something like "Awesome, someone to serenade us while we kick some a$$." that at least sounds like a joke.

Unfortunately, what you said is indefensible, so why are you still talking as if the Bard is the problem?

i dont remember the last time ive seen "ew DRG" even when i run tank/healer
not even back in pre 3.0

if anything, i usually get "ew MNK" cuz i played MNK and they arent good in dungeon speedpull

anyway, i am guilty of whenever i go tank and get like BRD/MCH
id quietly sigh on my mind and extend expected cleartime by 10 min or so
