Why are bards / Mechanists so... Sensitive? <_<

I'm not maining BRD and I have not even started MCH yet, but I do have a guess.... Maybe it's because they actually get booted from content, many times without a word or even a chance to prove themselves. Maybe it's because many people outright refuse to even take them to certain content - just today I saw a Bis Ex PF with "some jobs locked", ie. BRD and MCH could not join at all. And it was a practice/clear party, so not even one of those farms that require you to be at i300 in every job.
The core of the fault is probably the new tweaks/skills SE designed, but that's not to say people who choose to exclude them like that are entirely blameless.

2.0-2.55: People poking fun at dragoons(loldrg,tanking the floor,output wasn't that great), them hardly getting a raid spot because people favoured monk and ninja because they bring more to the raid group. Bards were fine because they had a raid spot no matter what because of their songs. As a dragoon this happened i see PF people ask for MNK/NIN

3.0: Dragoon gets a raid wide crit buff people take them now its equal among the melee dps and people don't poke fun any more as often because potentially they could be top dps, bards are now weak but people still take them for songs and people poke fun at them now and have a hissy fit.

In truth, right now all you bards are just going through what Dragoon went through pretty much all of 2.0. My static has a bard because even though their DPS isn't on the level of melee and casters they know they are still useful because of their support utility. People who say their bard are not support dps are lying to themselves you ARE support DPS SE just doesn't want to waste time building another option in duty finder which allows support DPS and adding a new colour for support DPS. Your DPS will never be on the level of anyone else and you just need to accept it just like how dragoons did in 2.0.

Even I throw out jokes at bards now because those same people threw jokes at me so when they try mention me doing low DPS I just say "says the bard with low DPS" and they stay silent and rarely judge my dps again. After looking at all the people who responded to the OP are just bards who are mainly salty their DPS isn't on the level as other classes. So, OP when I saw this topic I laughed because in all honesty I have said the same thing "ew bard" but they kew it was a joke because they know their current position. Just suck it up and stop being so sensitive, if Dragoons can take all the jokes and rejection of not taken into raids im sure you can until things are changed.

You can disagree all you want but my opinion won't change lol.

Not everyone judged Dragoon and not all of them was just Bards if some did. I like Dragoons and I totally agree with your post on utility and what not until the part with jokes on Bard which seems influenced from what Dragoon had to go through comes in, if you knew how it felt then why would you go out your way to laugh at another player misfortunes on here... I just find that horrible.

You know, I think the people who haven't came on here to comment how bad off they were are the Warriors. They had a total overhaul on their job because of the issues people felt the job had and yet... here comes the Dragoon players instead.

And so you know... in first coil when it was the only raid out back then. I also had a Dragoon player as a static member once and almost any kind of DPS was welcomed in runs I did if pugs were needed or when I was running coil before the static.

Last I checked, DRGs were fairly comfortable up until 2.4 when ninjas were introduced and FCoB got trigger happy with putting emphasis on damage values on fights...and making it magical damage. Nor did I see them being actively excluded or getting kicked out of Shiva EX for the matter.

If anything, it should be comparable to warriors who got benched out of raids in favor of paladins until 2.1.

You're not remembering clearly. DRG's got forced out of raids quite often in 2.1 Heck, DRG used to be asked to leave from parties doing AK because their DPS was so poor on Demon Wall.

Honestly, we've heard this crap since early access. Some people are able to take a light jab here or there between friends, but others are just tired of hearing the same damn thing nearly every hour we play XIV, knowing we picked a class that is in rough shape due to the nature of RNG and figuring it out too late since it functioned perfectly fine until suddenly our damage compared to others plummeted past level 50. At least those I've been with were quiet about it lately.

Edit: And to the above, what DRG is going through in 2.0 until the magic defense buff/overall skill buffs is not like what MCH is going through at the very least (I can't say anything about BRD personally). DRG is not at the mercy of RNG to function. It's funny, because when RNG favors us we actually do pretty well. When we don't, gg no re.

Please come back to me when you do Ravana EX when you get Wheeling Thrust when its Seeing Left/Right/Wings and then talk to me about being at the mercy of RNG we pretty much are forced to do less damage. It's not at the level of MCH which I understand you are right on that point but it's still pretty annoying that there is RNG between both my skills Fang and Claw and Wheeling Thrust.

A mechanic in a single boss fight does not dictate where the class stands. It is fairly annoying, but all melee classes deal with this. Are they excluded in Ravana EX sometimes? No.

Edit: Have to agree to disagree on how wheeling thrust/fang and claw being a 50/50 game is a bad thing. In most fights, you are guaranteed the higher potency, while MCH is not. About to hit 58 on lancer myself and going to see how it is, but it doesn't sound like a bad thing per say since it does activate the instant you press the fourth button. Why arn't procs like this in the first place? Or at the very least, have MCH have a sound indicator for procs on their shots like DRG/MNK/NIN get a sound queue for hitting flank/rear potency bonuses?

I don't know if Bards' dps is supposed to be higher since they bring some awesome utility...

But when I see my DRK offtank with STR accessories doing more dps than a similarily geared MCH (i179) in Ravana EX over the course of 5-7 minute tries, I think there is a problem lol And I was with 35 bonus attribues in VIT lol
