EU Datacenter - when?

Hi,
EU Datacenter was announced last year during Fan Festival.
Do you have any update on when it will happen?

I figured introducing EU Datacenter for 3.0 release would've been a great opportunity to reduce everyone's lag and disconnections, but it was not done. What are your plans regarding this?

copy/paste the character datas (with a 3 days downtime for players on the EU servers) and then shut down those in canada.
NA don't need new servers, if not everyone and their grandma want to play on Balmung.

IMO they should just rename current EU 1s or somethin then give people who want to go to the true EU data centre free transfer.. doubtful they will transfer everthing like houses exactly how its furnished blah blah blah

Well with a full copy/paste of the servers...everything will transfer.

still would be better just opening 2-3 new worlds n giving those who want to go free transfer XD

what if once transfer happens those who werent experiencing lag b4 start to just cause relocated the data centre :P then will be forced to change worlds ._.

Doesn't matter... even though the server would be across the pond for me I'm in too deep to switch.
Have too much stuff, too many friends. I'll take the lag, I don't mind.

Spawnie, how is it better to tell all the players in the EU to break up their FCs, lose their houses, possibly lose gil during a transfer (there's a cap on how much you can bring, right?), and all in all jump through hoops - rather than simply saying that now the servers are hosted somewhere else?

The American players that will experience lag now KNEW the servers were listed as EU when they joined them. Not all European players knew the EU servers were actually physically located in Canada; I know I didn't when I first started playing.
