"Let me be evil" trope class

I was reading through good old TV Tropes and I found this one which made me think of Fray from the DRK questline: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...henLetMeBeEvil

Going by the BLM storyline though, I think a THM/BLM would fit this type of character very well too. They have a tainted past and an individualistic approach to their religion, they seem to always be at odds with Conjurers and WHMs, and Gridanians aren't known for being accepting of outsiders. I haven't seen the full BLM storyline in Heavensward yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if the "Defiant" BLMs had this as one of their motives.

My Main character I use for RPing, Miranda, is a SMN. She almost fell into this trope herself due to all the disrespect she recieved from the townsfolk in her time as an adventurer (particularly Gridanians) and the only reason she didn't was because the Scions recognized her potential (thus giving her a neutral haven) and she was lucky enough to find an Allagan Soul Gem.

Note how they put "forces of good" and "evil" in quotes on the trope page too...I could definitely see a DRK or BLM going down this path just from being distrusted and ostracized for their dark & misundertood natures.

That's always a possibility when it comes to using "cursed" or "forbidden" powers without others really understanding why. DRK's "Fray" is more a case of Beneath the Mask, showing what the Warrior of Light is without his/her heroic front to hide certain ugly truths.

"Fray" even tells you after the battle that the people of Whitebrim (and those you interacted with during the questline) have seen what's beneath the mask verbatim.

The thing about SMN that has always really piqued me is the whole "rebel researcher" schtick, in contrast to serving Malvaan's Gate earlier in the Arcanist story or the remnants of the Nymian military in the Heavensward SCH quest. Before Heavensward came out, many people believed it to be the "canon" class to the Main Scenario simply because you're effectively the Scions' answer to the Garleans' Ultima Weapon, turning to lost Allagan arts as a way to fight the Primals.

If your character is given the opportunity to summon shadows of the Primals and learn from the experience, do they take it? That depends on who they are and what kind of experiences they've had. Even a Conjurer can feel alienated by her superiors and seek other disciplines for the sake of differentiation, another way of proving their worth. A bullied adventurer struggling to find their place in Eorzea could very well stop and consider the idea...

I mean, you saw what happened with Tristan. =)

For my character his friends have become more of an Anchor to help him get past all the nonsense npcs throw (which he finally admitted) at him sometimes he still defends the meek and punishes the wicked as per the motto of the DRK. Yet now he REALLY enjoy's punishing the wicked in a strange sense. I also do recall according to the quest journal the WOL wanted to deal justice as they see fit without anyone holding them back etc, I mean we all remember 2.55 right? I mean come on most your characters must of felt like rubbish after being so powerless to do anything while villians bend and hide behind the law and politics to cause suffering.

We did nothing in 2.55 because we are the WOL we must use "politics" and follow the "law" because what would people think of us? They look up to us etc. Lore wise DRK do not care for that kind of stuff hence why "Fray" appealed to your character so much won't say why because of spoiler reasons. In the end DRK don't care for the law, politics or people using faith as a shield they will find you and end you no matter the cost, if you are committing acts of injustice and evil they will be there to kill you hence them looking towards dark power since its pretty much them against the world. No one will thank you, they will even hate you because the common man believes the word's of their leaders and soldiers etc and it does not help you that you are using dark/demonic powers while saving them as well. So even the people you saved may not trust you after having a glimpse under the mask.

It's the reason why I adore the DRK questline so much after being through all of it can the WOL simply put that "mask" on again and not change? Or leaving behind the mask completely? Or Perhaps just wear a piece of it?

Oh and possibly the DRK power source might be the same as BLM who uses the void because during the DRK quest line they say we use the power of the "abyss" and I assume its another word for the void just like how monk's instead of calling their power aether they call it chakra.

We rarely get to play truly evil characters.
I wonder how evil the warrior of darkness is. And if we will get to create a warrior of darkness in the future.
Just add a new question to the character creation screen. Warrior of Light or Warrior of Darkness.

No, they didn't. If there had to be a "canon class" - doubting such a thing -, it would be Warrior. Check the cutscenes.
