When there's a long enough queue, you'll notice every 15 seconds or so the little box that tells you where you are will click, and reload up to a new number. If you cancel and reselect the same character the same thing will happen. On short queues you often get through the queue faster than the automatic refresh, so canceling and reselecting--forcing a manual refresh--will get you in faster. That's all it is.

Considering the low amount of time it saves you, I don't really think it's worth the two clicks when I can just tab out and do something else for a minute and come back to already be loaded into game, though.
Why, does it take you 15 seconds to spam Numpad0?
I prefere taking 3sec to spam Numpad0 and go straight into the loading screen than waiting 10-15sec for the queue to refresh.

Not even talking about when you get stuck at 1 or get a lobby error 2002
