Getting refused to EX groups as a DRK

-WAR does not have better mitigation than a DRK.

I did some calculations some time ago, I found that WAR does indeed have better mitigation and it's also slightly better than DRK for magic damage reduction. But those calculations were purely based on theoretical tank busters (and yes I did make up a scenario with an hypothetical magic tank buster), so that doesn't take into account sustained damage instead of burst, or add tanking.

I assume the group did not know any better considering DRK dps is not THAT bad even with the dark arts fix, considering the overall potency of our skills and we are not as bad as 2.0 warriors.

The people were just being ass holes. While its true that DRK is the least useful of the three, for EX content they're just fine. The problem is that its new and people think that not being as good as WAR or PLD = they are bad. When it just means they aren't quiet as good.

This is pretty much just the start of posts like this. I imagine with Alexander coming out it's going to get even worse until SE does a fix to DRK. While people can cry about those people being assholes all they want, the simple fact of the matter is either of the other tanks offer FAR more in any fight than a DRK. Taking a DRK to anything right now is just lowering your DPS and/or throwing away utility. Not to mention DRK takes more skill to play right only to be near what the other tanks can do with less effort. It becomes less of a risk to just take the easier to play tanks at this point.

And posts like this are the reason people start to avoiding DRK, even if they are perfectly fine for any fight currently in the game.

Are they currently subpar in some areas? Yes.
Are they completely broken? Lol no, not even close.

I mean it's not terrible, but your accessories could use some love.

I did this fight last night and the warrior died during the snakes(dragon snakes? What are those things?) three times. Bad WAR? Maybe. Only proves the class doesn't matter if the player is an idiot(though in fairness to this particular case, he wasn't; I'm still trying to figure out how it was that he died so many times).

So far, I've yet to be refused for any content. You people need to man up and cut the waterworks already.

I'd take a guess people are refusing you for your gear more than anything.

We cleared Bismark with an AVG ilvl of 155. I was on PLD with an ilvl of 151.

If the party needs ilvl 170+ to clear Bismark Ex, they arent as good as they think they are.

Dark Knights are fine. Actually they are pretty OP and could use a nerf. I know someone who plays Dark Knight and they do stuff.

Yeeeeah, I'm not even touching the DK job until these flaws have been ironed out. I'm just getting back in XIV with this expansion, and I'm having a sickeningly fun time with Warrior. I feel as though the DK would be a blast to play with as well, but the only thing I hate worse than healing a squishy tank is being one.

It's hard figuring out the character niche of the Dark Knight as well for group play. The Warrior is a powerful beast who runs wild on his enemies; a trash-talking, mouth smashing brute carved out of rock who dishes out more pain than he receives. The Paladin is a gallant protector, a chivalrous knight, the quintessential 'heroic figure' who never leaves a comrade behind, and fears nothing and no one. The traditional theme for dark Knights is 'selfishness and pain' but where does that fit in for his tanking theme? Like, how do you translate something like that into fun gameplay that involves protecting others? The most memorable DK I can recall was Gaffgarion from FF:Tactics, and he was pretty much a jaded dick.
