    Is it just me...

...who is beginning to feel the pressure of remembering too many boss mechanics, too many boss skill names and too many phases for too much content? There are so many dungeons, trials and raids now with so many bosses and each with their own mechanics I often end up forgetting a mechanic or two across the phases of fights from time to time especially when doing DR. I do not think it is something SE can fix as people will always want new content to have new, challenging and exciting mechanics though.

But I noticed recently I have started to generalize when describing mechanics on old content to new players simply because I am no longer sure I remember it all, so I might say something like "I think it does...", "It might do this..." or "Doesn't this boss do that...".

Having to remember them all in case DR puts us in one we haven't been to in a while or having to do an old raid or new one and not remembering every single thing bosses do because of mechanic overload on the brain. It is one thing to only do or farm the new content which keeps those mechanics fresh in the mind but SE wants us to do all the old content to help others and I do so but remembering everything is a pain in the butt sometimes.

I am just curious if I am the only one who has started to be overwhelmed by the amount of mechanics and phases on all content old and new which sometimes need to do in order to help others. Maybe it's time to start printing out cheat sheets for everything sorted by alphabetical boss names followed by skill names to help remember them all especially the names of each mechanic or skill being used by the boss in order to remember which skill does what on each boss or phase in every bit of dungeon, raid or trial content.

Yes I'm starting to get mechanics mixed up, such as when you get targeted and you have to either run toward the group or away from them.

You can always take some quick notes and keep them to the side. When you go into a boss fight that you've forgotten, you can briefly skim through a few things to jog your memory. Should only take a few seconds, honestly.

Just an idea at the top of my head to help. c:

Personally, I just roll with it and I'll remember what to do as the fight progresses, but that's just how my brain works. I'm too lazy to take any notes, lol.

I main tank so we bear the most pressure when it comes to memorizing fights, not that it's hard. If you can't remember boss fights here are three main rules:

    1. DODGE AoE!
    2. Kill adds first!
    2. Stack for big heals or transition phases.

Muscle memory it's not that hard once you get used to it, I do agree it can become overwhelming for a new player to FFXIV but give it time and you will be killing like a BOSS!

I can't say I've found it a problem. Most fights outside of Coil or EX Primals only have a couple of mechanics that need remembering; 90% of general dungeon bosses are just "dodge the AOE and smack it a lot."

I'm on OP's side. My brother who started playing about a year after me has finally caught up to where I am at EX primals. We've been running them about every other night and I can't keep a couple of the mechanics straight.

It's not too big of a deal, especially since we beat them once and move on. I do like having fun new mechanics though.

The old dungeons, no. Ran them so many times I can do them blindfolded on ten different jobs.

The new ones? Yeah. Probably because I haven't run them all that much yet. But right now they are just a huge jumbled mess.

They are recycling alot of old coil mechanics, well... nerfed versions. Saw like T6, T7, T13 stuff in new dungeons/trials - and freaken S ranks pulling fcob stuff.
