Question about DRK threat.

When I go into a trial as my WAR, and a DRK decides he wants to OT, he drops grit, puts on DA and proceeds to blatantly out threat me like I'm some LARP nerd with a Styrofoam shaped axe ducted taped to my mom's stolen mop handle. Is this how DRK is supposed to work?

I would explore the fact that maybe I suck gravy, but when ever I'm designated MT and the OT is a another WAR or even a PLD (Yes, sacrilege, I know. Hail Satan etc., etc.) They don't even come close to my threat levels (In Sword Oath and sans Defiance/Deliverance), hovering just a bit over DPS and healers who rarely rise above half my own threat level.

Can anybody explain this phenomenon?


Also, for fun, they already have the Cloud costume in the vet rewards, so you just know they are gonna add that Godsdamned buster sword too, since male DRK idle stance is Clouds' stance from his instruction manual bio pic. Gods help us all if they add the hair cut...

I don't have enough information here, particularly regarding gear. When the right accessories, I can out-threat any average tank irregardless of class.

I'm a full time DRK and I have experienced this constantly, it's either mt or put my controller down.

DRK has a higher threat gain then PLD and WAR that included with damage a DRK can do will make it harder to maintain threat.

There was many times DRK out-threat my PLD in S/A mobs hunt.
I pulled first. I got the agro for like 15 sec then suddenly from red enmity straight to green.
I'm i180 with Ravana sword and shield, and I checked those DRK, they are still using green equipments, I don't know what the hell happened.

If there is one thing I know DRK has been good at so far, its getting hate on em and keeping it on. That said at best if this is something that could be a constant problem regardless of any tweaks to DRK then it'll just be something they'll need to learn to tone down on at the start of a fight to let the MT establish hate.

That said I've seen many of the DPS classes also have been having an easier time ripping hate off Paladin and Warriors, and possibly OT Warriors are doing good at it as well.

The enmity combo on DRK is much higher in terms of enmity, so if a drk spams only the enmity combo they will steal the boss from you. This is because DRK will do very few amounts of enmity combos and more of their dps combos, even while tanking. The burst threat is quite ridiculous as a DRK though.

If your OT out-threats you as a DRK, he is playing badly. There is no way a DRK doing their DPS combos can out threat anyone doing their enmity rotations. Tell him to use more Dark Arts Souleater for the DPS instead of doing Power Slash.

I can't picture this happening if the DRK OT was properly using only DA Souleaters and Deliriums. He had to have been using Power Slashes, which not only would pull threat off you most likely, it's technically lower dps than had he been doing Deliriums. Now if this is sub-50 content, and he had no access to Delirium, then it'd make sense, as Power Slash and DA Souleater would then be his main methods of attacking.

There's no reason to use power slash combo as OT DRK. DA'd souleaters and deliriums are more dps and don't generate any more threat than a dps class.

DRKS emnity modifiers are higher than that of PLD and WAR because as MT we rely a lot on siphon blade/souleater for MP/HP regen and keeping delirium up (if no monk), so we can't just spam our emnity combo.

All 3 tank classes now have non-threat combos that they should be using as OT. Warrior is the slight exception that butcher's block combo is its highest potency combo, but it will still be alternated with storms combos.

If a DRK wants to steal hate at the beginning of a fight he can by doing the powerslash combo as his very first with dark arts attached.
Also a huge waste of damage potential.
So it's more his problem than anything.
